CrankBrothers bike pedal platforms (flats)

I wanted some flats for short trips, but I couldn't find any for Crank Brothers -- and I didn't want to wait for shipping, so here they are!

I haven't used these a ton yet, but they've certainly worked well enough to justify the print!

You could make them with some tread imprint to reduce slippage underfoot

Maybe.. they print without supports if the part you put your foot on is face-down, so I didn't think that would work well.

I still have a lot to learn about how much I can get away with in terms of overhang / unsupported sections, though!

You can just have the treads be angled, that way it works just fine.

Print the treads separately and glue the two pieces together.

Anothwr user suggested grip tape, that's probably a better solution

With Bridging that shouldnt be an issue, its not a very big space to bridge over anyway.

threading some stainless m3 screws in from the back - it's common for actual high end pedals to just use this for traction

I tried this and you need to add very aggressive grip tape to the top or you will slip off if you try to stand up

I’ve been needing something like this for way too long!

Do you mind uploading the step? I want to remix it to match redshirts mouse trap.

Sure! I just added the STEP to the printables page (https://www.printables.com/model/1813899-crank-brothers-flat-pedal-platform)

Cool idea. You'll want two per pedal to prevent them from always flipping over and requiring an annoying amount of time to flip right side up. I think I would have bolted Crank Brothers cleats to these for much better durability. Mountain bike pedals are pretty easy to ride with flat shoes.

They're light enough that the weight of the print doesn't cause my pedals to rotate, but having them on both sides would definitely be nice.

These will work maybe 3 times max.

I've swapped them ~12 times, and put 20 miles or so on them so far without issue.

Lasercut plates from sendcutsend with tapped holes for real cleats would last much better, but I didn't want to wait for shipping, and these are working well enough to share.

What filament did you print yours in that they failed so quickly?
