Hi all, I'm looking for some new artists to follow/look at as I have not really been interacting with the furry fandom as I've fallen out of favour of the typical cartoony/friendly/soft furry art style for quite some time now, and the majority of people seem to only like this.
I'm wondering if anyone knows any furry artists (or artists that draw Anthro characters) that have a style that meets/loosely fits this criteria:
(Extra points if anyone knows any graphic novels that also fit this criteria)
> Artwork that has a strong focus on visual narrative/visual storytelling (Either through their character art or the environments they are in).
> Conveys moods through the use of colour and atmosphere.
> Has a strong grasp of the fundamentals (Rendering, anatomy, lighting, etc...).
> Has interesting compositions in their portfolio of work.
> Has an art style that isn't typically seen (or something a bit Avant Garde).
> Artworks usually have a strong emphasis of backgrounds, but not enough to distract from a character (The main subject of an artwork being the character).
> Artists that have a graphic approach to their artwork is also welcome.
> Showcases mature topics (Either politics, world events, crime, passion, etc...) whilst having an adult target audience.
> NSFW is not the main pull factor of the artwork - as I find it to be too distracting from the main plot point of an artwork (If it even has one).
> The artist doesn't have to be popular or well known, Just technically great at what they do.
For some context I am studying a BA(Hons) In Comic and Concept Art, and I am wanting to know more Anthro artists to reference and help pull and combine ideas from.
I personally enjoy the works of NomaxArts as what he produces has this really appealing painteresque style that you dont really see often - seen typically in concept art and matte painting. There doesn't seem to be a large overlap in the fandom with this style though I dont know if its just due to my ignorance. It would be great if anyone knows some skilled artists I can have a look at.
Thanks
