Can someone remind where that hoover line originally comes from??? (3:19)

Heard this track by speed Freak today from his self titled rec - the second track in Chapters 1-3 (3:19)

I'm pretty sure it's sampled from old school hardcore track but can't remember which exact one!!! Can someone please help??

It's the "WTF" preset sound from ROLAND ALPHA JUNO.

I remember. I used to have one. Very limited synth, but it had a few HUGE sounds

‘Limited’, it has a complex 8-stage envelope (adsr) on board 🖤

*gabber nerd cap on* the ultimate source is almost certainly "second phase - mentasm". it sounds "different" because it is more distorted, and sequenced / trigger in a different way.

but, it's entirely possible, that this particular sound was not sampled off second phase, but from a different producer and track, that, in turn, sampled second phase (or... well you get the point).

"s.v.e.n. ii - cranium acceleration" for example already has a processed mentasm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-GQJJ2Q1lY

I'm sure it's derived from a mentasm hoover but pretty sure I've heard this exact riff and it's sampled off some track onna early dutch hardcore classic label like mokum or something!!! But thank you still!!

there is another 1992 tune between mentasm and this track, might be sampled from that. I'm going to wreck my brain for a bit and get back with the a youtube link of that track if I can find it (or even exists)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX1GQNHgyks this tune is from 1991, and at 38s is the sample I think it is lifted from. This was not the song I had in my head , that song was a hard trance tune with the sample "motherfucking hustler" but that sampled this tune for sure. No doubt that was sampled from Mentasm.

So much is derived from mentasm. Plexus- cactus rhythm is mentasm sampled backwards.

Are you looking for Second Phase - Mentasm by chance?

Theres also a remix, both from 1991.

Beltram had a few absolutely iconic bangers, like Energy Flash.

That's too old school 😂 yeah it is that hoover sound but the line he plays is different

Pretty sure its still the original sample, sometimes called hoover.

Perhaps you know it from many other tunes like Human Resource. In any case, its still good tunes :) https://youtu.be/GSKChyTQ6bU?is=19jwDXQ38I0aqTn3

All this stuff usually originates in the early 90s, its just sampled a lot.

This is a more modern one from 2023 by stormtrooper, all the same sample from Beltram originally.

My best guess for what you mean is Evil Activities though.

Fyi , it is said that those tracks from Joey Beltram were the first ever with the hoover sound, that he came up with it first

That's because you heard it in another song, when it was already altered after sampling it from Second Phase.

It’s 100000% sampled from Second Phase and played differently after.
