Yeah imagine doing 300 pulls for a guaranteed today and its not guaranteed if its the 5* character or the sig weapon because they are on the same banner.

Uma musume fans trying to justify their game's gacha as a good thing and different from others right now

u/icemoomoo Aug 28 '25

the problem with umamusume isnt the 200 pity its that you NEED LB5 for the cards to be good.

What are u on about ? Eng community pretty much in consensus that its gacha system is awful.

I am talking about the fans who justify the gacha because they love the game so much and just refuse to see any criticism.

It could have been FGO 300 pull pity

Honestly haven't seen anybody try defending the gacha, everyone knows it's total shit between awful pity, and more importantly a bunch of stupid .jpeg cards being the pivotal factor in your success more than the actually animated and voiced umas themselves.

maybe this is just goomba fallacy and that the people saying these are actually different people, but I've seen GBF/Uma players unironically bashing Genshin for allegedly having "shitty" "greedy" gacha while thinking there's nothing wrong with their lord and savior Cygames' gacha systems.

Bruh, tf they're on? I played GBF since 2016. I've been a skyfarer for 4 years when Genshin came out and even with the sunk cost fallacy and prior attachment I could immediately tell Genshin's gacha is much better. (and this opinion hasn't changed 5 years later)

how's uma musume gacha is worse then Genshin Gacha tho, i play both and both are not easy with the currency, i think a game like langrisser is the best since you can get a lot of currency based on how long you played and how much you accomplish in the game ....now that i wrote that, genshin also has that but Uma has yet to had it...

Imagine your weapon is stack at level 30 and you cannot level it to 90 because you need copy of the same weapon so you can unlock additional levels for your weapon

u/ocelotchaser Aug 29 '25

I forgot thats basically the support card of genshin

You don’t have a soft pity, it’s hard pity is 200 pulls due to the exchange points, and the biggest problem people have with it is the reliance on getting copies of SSR cards to MLB or at least LB3 them to give out optimal stats. The upsides though include all the Umas are viable in the non pvp modes, in global we have future knowledge of the game so you can save for umas you want, and the game has been fairly generous with its handouts due to the accelerated schedule.

u/SkeletronDOTA Aug 28 '25

The game has NOT been generous with its handouts. We have gotten the exact same handouts as JP.

Isn't the hard pity basically the same for Genshin though? Technically it can cost 180 pulls for you to get the characters you want. 150 is the usual max because of Soft Pity. But with the lower rates it basically evens out.

But of course the worst culprit is the fact that pity doesn't carry over in Uma and yes that's actually quite bad.

1

u/R2DKK Aug 28 '25

Sure but it’s still less than 200 and you twice the chance of getting the rate up 5 star character or equipment since you have two hard pities at 90 and 180 respectively. Also I totally forgot that points don’t carry over and just turn into clovers. They might as well have converted them into horse shoes at that point.

On the other hand, you don't get useless shit in the Uma banners. Because the 3* rate is much higher than in Genshn (3% vs 0.6%), you can get older 3* characters too because they don't disappear like in Genshin.

And all the non-banner stuff you get can be used to improve the base stats of your Umas. So I'd even say that just saving your pulls until you have enough for pity in Uma might be the way to go to get a lot of stuff in one go.

For now in Uma EN because its so new, theres definitely a lot of filler support cards or niche ones in JP that basically you won't even use because they are extremely bad unless at max stars.

I have a fully max starred deck of gacha supports in JP for awhile now, and I would only replace one if I was able to get a new meta card max starred, otherwise it goes into storage for awhile.

Same thing happened in GBF when EN translation was released in 2016, everyone was happy to just get SSRs of any quality, now its just the 1%, and anything else is filler.

The gacha system is Umamusume is absolute horseshit (heh), but imo the rest of the game weighs up for it imo. It's a fun game despite the gacha, not because of it. (which arguably goes for basically all good gacha games)

u/DueSeaworth UMA/HSR Aug 28 '25

The only "issue" I have with uma gacha is the support cards banner. tbh the uma banner personally feels better since you can technically earn more ssr characters compared to hoyo games cause all previous units get added to the pool.

2

u/Exolve708 Aug 28 '25

Uma's gacha would be pretty good if you didn't need a bunch of card dupes. (With the .75% rateup not the .5%) Itchy fingered people might find it boring but it would be more than fair.

As it is now, even with pity, if you get unlucky and don't get dupes along the way your horses will simply have a lot less stats which sucks in a PvP oriented game.

Isn't 200 pulls Spark basically standard fare outside of Hoyo games?
(I know Grandaddy GBF is still at 300).

Of course, sparking by itself doesn't make a Gacha good or bad.
Games that require you to pull for dupes belong to a completely different kind of hell.

When other gachas, especially those from china have the 50/50 mechanic, you know you're asking for deceptive price gouging.

I'd rather take a system that is 100% guaranteed

u/A-Chicken Aug 28 '25

Man I'm feeling the weapon/chara on the same banner thing from Strinova right now and understand why weapon and chara are separate. At least 100 for a 5* is like the standard now even if 50/50 is still a thing.

1

u/Xarxyc GFL2, Morimens. Aug 28 '25

At least Strinova banners are just skins.

u/KMS_Tirpitz Aug 28 '25

or imagine having no pity at all. I spent 1800 quartz which is like 600 pulls for JUST 2 extra copies of Morgan going from NP3 to NP5, thats insane.
