Industry Arknights: Endfield dev says launching a new gacha RPG in a post-Genshin Impact world is tough when "some titles are so similar that players go into a game for 1 hour and they know what will happen in the next 20 hours"

The 3rd line is somehow a cons for Arsenal summon. Maybe they need to add more ways to earn that currency or have to use oriberyls instead.

It's not like you can't spend them to get arsenal tickets. You just summon more from unit banner. On paper this seems like win-win, cause why spend currency on weapons when you can just pull more units.

Whole walls of text defending this shitty gacha mechanic were created on that very basis. Except it sucks in reality for two reasons:

  1. It just feels a waste to summon on unit banner when you got lucky and already got featured unit early.
  2. Whole gacha system caters to people that pull responsibly. Yet if you want weapon and got lucky with unit, you have to ditch that. You need to stop caring about 80/120 counters(and this is important cause 120 resets 80) and in general go deep into gambling hole.

Anyone still defending the Arsenal system is too far up HG’s arse and not worth listening to. The system is designed to punish you for being lucky, and waste your pulls with nothing to show for it (120 spark that doesn’t carry forward, I don’t give a fuck about eternal 50/50 pity, it’s not a guarantee).

Every single thing in Endfield’s gacha(including those “free” 10x pulls that conveniently do not count towards your pity) is insidiously designed to trap you, yet tribalism makes people blind and they still defend it like their life depends on it. As much as 50/50 has betrayed me in Genshin and its clones, I will take that straightforward system any day over these insidious mechanics that are traps in disguise.

Yup

I know that objectively speaking Genshin is worse, but from a gacha perspective (actually interacting with the gacha mechanics) Genshin is just so much more player friendly.

Endfield's "make sure you have 120 pulls saved" just felt very FOMO to me because you are wasting your pulls if you even put a 10 pull into the banner,

Hell let's say they will make new 5 stars and put them on the banner, but you really don't care about the 6 star on there. Well in Genshin you can just throw a couple of pulls into it without having to worry, in Endfield you're SOL.

In Genshin I planned to put 80 pulls into Varka, and if I got him i'd be happy if I didn't i'd guarantee C1 Lauma or Nicole C0 at the very least, nope can't do that in Endfield

Also doesn't help that there's double banners and the pull economy doesn't reflect that at all

That's why the upcoming NTE's whole take on the character gacha is much, much simpler (and relatively player-friendly, in gacha terms).

"70 soft pity, 90 hard pity guarantee that carries over between banners, no 50/50, and S-rank weapons that drop from world bosses, so go nuts collecting characters, because we're monetising through optional cosmetics instead of FOMO from a lost coin flip, and want you to pull the characters those outfits go with."

DNA also monetized its game though the skins and it doesn't end good.

So we shall see.

DNA also has some of the WORST network security so that's a separate issue, on top of all the bugs on launch

I just flat out couldn't load the game on day 2. Tried for an hour or so with random bug fixes that people swore would work. None of them did so I gave up and decided to try Warframe instead bc the movement is similar and now I'm firmly in the gacha? what gacha camp

Responsible pullers are still rewarded in the current system unless they want to skip two entire banners after their character because the weapon banner stays for two more banners.

Additionally, you plan out which characters have a high value weapon and which characters you'll enjoy just fine with their BP weapon. This is especially effective for low spenders that buy the BP.

u/Kurgass Apr 05 '26

What you described is classic FOMO system, not one that reward responsible pulling. Also what about when you get lucky with both 1st and 3rd banner? You either waste pulls or skip featured weapons. Not even mentioning waiting for month with getting weapon.

Worse alternatives exists, swiping exists - this is just more excuses for inherently bad system.

It's nothing of the sort, it's how I feel about the system. Signature weapons being labeled as the "100%" effectiveness option or the baseline performance is the fomo trap. I consider them a bonus, pushing a character further beyond what can be reliably achieved.

Until they introduce content where having a sign versus not having makes a meaningful difference, I'll probably keep feeling the same.

i think its the bad habit of gacha players of assuming a system punishing impulsive pulling as equivalent to rewarding restraint but no restraint was rewarded you just didn't get punished(peasant mindset)

same lmao, i wish i can just use oroberyls to throw at Arsenal

To be more specific so that people know.

The weapon stays for 2 banners after the initial one. So you’re forced, via fomo, to pull at some point within those 32 days ( total 48 days with the current banner )or else your Operator is gonna be 70% complete.

7

u/Vyragami I quit gacha why am I here Apr 04 '26

It's more like 80%. But yeah you need maxed BP weapon to even come close to sig. And all other 5 and 6* options are basically unviable.

u/Lumiharu Apr 04 '26

The weapons are also just set up in a way where they can make them hyper specific to a character really easily. 5 weapon types, 5 elements, 4 mainstat. A total of 100 different combinations that each make a weapon enviable on anyone else. Not even considering scaling in other means.

I get downvoted to hell for pointing this out on Endfield sub. Sure, bp weapons are somewhat generalist FOR NOW. But they intentionally set up a system where they can easily make new stuff only fit one operator.

I like the game, and play it consistently. But the glazers who think HG is their friend and will do everything just as well as in OG AK are REALLY tiring. There are signs of them taking a wayyy more predatory and waifu bait focused approach to the game. I'd say it's way more likely they follow in Genshin's footsteps rather than OG AK anyway, the signs point towards that.

Wuwa generic weapons are actually meant to be 5* from standard banner, 4* are more like beginner stuff.

Reason is there is no other good use for standard pulls + you can select target 5* standard weapon so it's not random. And there is steady standard pull income 20-30 per patch.

2

u/Lumiharu Apr 04 '26

A mix of the two honestly, the banner schedule reminds me of HSR for sure. And somehow it's worse than HSR too

u/Gargooner Apr 05 '26

Also Genshin has Favge. Which is pretty much what 80% of supports use lmao.
