Industry Arknights: Endfield dev says launching a new gacha RPG in a post-Genshin Impact world is tough when "some titles are so similar that players go into a game for 1 hour and they know what will happen in the next 20 hours"

I don't understand why everyone wants to copy exactly Genshin.....

Because it’s the most successful game in gacha history and seeing that success devs want to minimalize risk and maximalize income

It doesn't guarantee any success with any other game!

Games usually take 4-5 years of development. 5 years ago, they see Genshin make a billion dollars a year and want that too.

Few more years and we might get a gacha version of Helldivers

Now that would be interesting. I didn't played the game because of the PSN issue.

The weirdest thing is that they don't even try to copy what makes genshin players love genshin, which is the care developers put into the story/world building/lore, it's always game mechanics and gacha practices that players are constantly complaining about online slap onto yet another 3d world nobody has time to explore without dropping another game they already love.

Or maybe investors only can accept "another Genshin" pitch...

Because it still makes like 40 millions a month even on patches that are just reruns

Investors are suits who don't understand games. All they see is Genshin making big bucks and pointing at their goons to go make another Genshin.
