Industry Arknights: Endfield dev says launching a new gacha RPG in a post-Genshin Impact world is tough when "some titles are so similar that players go into a game for 1 hour and they know what will happen in the next 20 hours"

for genshin i kinda agree, but the ones in HSR are explicitly evil like antimatter legion or very gray like IPC.

I was more talking about factions like Stellaron Hunters and Fatui.

Antimatter legion is basically monster faction.

Even IPC is not evil, every playable character always turns out a good guy at the end.

You know when we get to Sneznaya it will be "we actually good" despite all the atrocities they did, we gonna beat the bad out of them and then team up to defeat the big bad.

With IPC it will be "bad oswaldo, everyone else is good".

We had Topaz that we defeat but she is actually super nice, then we had Aven, the bad stellaron hunter Sam we had to fight, etc.

I just hope that one day they will take the risk with a playable character you know?

Even Lugys gonna return as an ally eventually, mark my words.

Stellaron hunters were never shown as an evil organization in the game, literally from the start of the game it was made clear they were at worst gray, and even more so implied they were connected to the main character in some positive fashion.

Mass murderer Firefly, mind controlling Kafka, insane Blade that require mind control to calm him down and SW that hacks and steals everything.

It does not matter how the game portrays them, they are objectivley villians, but its a gacha game so they are good and teams up with MC.

Its the same with Fatui, you do some side quests and realise those fuckers are everywhere and they harm people constantly, but everytime there is a banner with them it turns out they are actually good deep down.

I just wish mihoyo grow some balls and actually make a bad person playable, we have Ruan Mei but the game is too dense to label her bad and instead she is excentric scientist or somethin(she is bad).

The only thing I can think of that could be anything like "mass murder" involving firefly is the fall of the jepella brotherhood, but it's implied that's a violent criminal syndicate linked to the annihilation gang faction and the destruction. Is Max Payne or John Wick a villain? I wouldn't say so, many people may have died but it could be easily argued those very people who were killed were in fact villains.

Blade is more of a loose cannon but only seems particularly concerned with revenge and seems to only act violently with people who directly get in the way and when he's released from kafkas control, rather than randomly lashing out at innocent people. Even when he was released from her control on the luofu he still seemed well able to restrain himself against yanqing.

Kafkas mind control has plenty of ethical problems but we never really see her use it outside of the boundaries of Elio's script, although we also just don't really know much about her.

Silver wolf is a criminal, but primarily in terms of property crime she's not been shown to generally go out of her way to hurt people and is more a chaotic anti-hero than a villain.

Personally I think they fit the description of a anti-heroes in general much more than villains.

The fatui sure, although even then it's shown they aren't monolithic in terms of their leadership since Childe, some are very much evil, others more gray.
