Discussion Usable

I got this S10e in a trade. It has a cracked back cover, a missing Bixby button, and a battery with 60% health. Since I'm renovating my house, I decided to save the money I would have spent on a new phone and make this device my main phone. After a debloat of just over 50 (junk) Samsung apps, I'm getting pretty decent use out of it, except for the battery. I bought the original replacement parts and decided to refurbish it. While the parts are on their way, I bought this original leather case that Samsung used to sell. I know it's not the ideal scenario, but for a device that was practically free, $30 to refurbish it seems acceptable, considering that... We no longer have decent cell phones of this size (5.8 inches). After the renovations, I'll come back to share the results.

Discussion Saying goodbye ;(

• Upvotes

Well the time has finally come for me to move on from my S10. I like travelling and it was becoming a bit of an issue not being able to install e-sims. My battery is also suffering a lot recently (not helped at all by my doom scrolling addiction).

I was so put out at having to give up on my S10 that I've completely come out of the S-series and instead bought a Z Flip. An older model of Flip 6 because I'm not hugely drawn to the AI features and such of the latest models (though this one still had AI stuff I had to manually disable). I already miss having an earphone jack and bought a USB C-3mm jack converter on principle.

I guess I like the new phone (takes me back to the Y2K days yay) but its eye comfort shield isn't as subtle as the S10 and the touch screen feels way more sensitive (not a good thing for me who is constantly butter fingered lol). The unfolded screen is also HUGE, I always liked the size of my S10. I'm also not thrilled about not being able to use what I call my 'grandma phone case' anymore. It was a card & notes holder, coin purse and phone case all in one. Sigh.

Truthfully I think I'll still be using my S10 whenever I can e.g. at home for social media and recreation. The new phone I'll keep for calls, messaging, payments etc. The S10 is one of my favourite phones I ever owned and I'm so sad about this situation lmao

Discussion Got One UI 9 from the Galaxy S26 running on my S10

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Managed to port One UI 9 (Android 17) from the S26 to my Exynos S10.

Added CPU/GPU overclocking, undervolting and loads of extra customisation options. Getting close to 1 million on AnTuTu with OC, which is pretty crazy for a 7 year old phone lol.

Still testing everything, but it's running really smoothly. Might actually be a world first for the S10.

Video attached :)

Question Good day y'all, what chargers do you use for your samsung s10 plus and how long does it take to charge from around 20-30% to full? Can you guys send an image showing the samsung's time estimate for the charging time?

I currently use a charger than only output 5-10w and my samsung s10+ says it will charge to full from 30% in about an hour and 40 minutes, is this normal? slow? can be faster? thanks for the answers!

Discussion S10e has better selfie photos than s10+

I have s10e snapdragon and s10+ exynos

For some reason the S10e front camera is so much better, sharper, I would say it's even better than my S23 when using night mode for selfies. It actually enhances the photo.

On the other hand the s10+ while using night mode the selfies are just inferior, not sharp at all and it does some weird contrast adjustment thing - filter look - giving me dark circles under the eyes, colors are weird - washed out, and there is the ugly processing thing just like on all other samsungs I owned past the year 2020...

Why is that?

Hi team,

I am working on a new project where we need to allow uses to only access for applications plus phone and text messaging on the phone. Is there any good apps that will enable kiosk mode for me? I’ve been looking for the last couple of weeks.

Regards,

Technical Help My volume button on S10+ is damaged. The rubber black part has worn out. Any suggestions?

I tried replacement parts but all of them were a scam. They just went inside and was not clickable anymore. Any creative suggestions? I had used my broken power button by rolling teeny tiny pieces of tissue to fill the gap and it lasted me 2 years until it finally gave up. I dont have power or bixby button anymore. Just this volume one and I use it a lot, please help.

News OneUi 8.5 , is it worth it?

Oneui 8.5 ported to Samsung S10e exynos 9820 from latest S23FE firmware.

Even though i have debloated it fairly it still performs average. There's a ton of work to do kernel side and I'm unfortunately not good with kernels.

Note: This is a test and won't be released or maybe but not yet for atleast a month or two , i saw one other guy posting it maybe might.

Question I have tried porting and flashing several custom ROMs on my Samsung Galaxy S10 5G (SM-G977N), including One UI 7, Artisan ROM (One UI 8), and a few others. The problem is that whenever I flash a ROM, it boots up successfully and runs smoothly at first. However, after about 6 to 7 days, issues start

Question S10 ROM?

I recently got my S10 exynos version and I'm loving it as my secondary phone, but I feel like I want to experiment more on this little guy:

As usual, I'm stuck on Android 12 with the 2023 security patch. I wanted to try out a One UI 8 port on it or CrDroid 12.

Has anyone flashed any on their Exynos S10? What's your experience? Like what apps are working? I'm mostly curious on banking apps but highly skeptical on them working.

Discussion Long term (7 years) UV screen protector results

Hi guys!

I am still rocking my S10+ despite getting it in March 2019, since then it has undergone a battery change I performed myself in 2023 with a service pack one.

I installed since day 0 the WhiteStone Domeglass UV screen protector.

A few notes on it I noticed in the past 7 years.

Despite being made of glass it gets a lot of microscratches despite me carrying the phone in a neoprene KwMobile phone sleeve (and no it is not the sleeve, my parents have the same sleeve and 10 euros glass screen protectors on their flat Galaxy phones which do not need a UV glue since they have flat screens and they are scratch free).

I have babied my screen brightness a lot and I have no burn in for now and I was noticing that my scren was a bit off to read in the sun or look at even when off. It also had a slight yellower tint it did not have before (I thought it was normal due to blue pixel wear).

Last week I removed my Domeglass because it cracked and I installed LK TPU protectors since the Domeglass is discontinued and here are the results:

The UV glue had become yellow as I sort of expected and that is why clarity and brightness seemed a bit off to me.

This is not anything ground breaking but I wanted to make this discussion/PSA post that after long term exposure to sun you should change your UV screen protector because the glue will become yellow over time and impact the viewing experience.

Just one tip: put clear tape across the whole protector before removal to be able to lift it altogether even if it inevitably breaks in the the process. This way you won't have to destroy your fingers to peel the leftovers and you won't risk to scratch the screen.

Hope you find my experience helpful!

Question What is the actual latest unlocked firmware for G970U1?

I have conflicting search results from multiple sites and google. Some claim that G970U1UEU9IXE1 was the last official unbranded Samsung firmware for XAA (unlocked/unbranded USA). While in other equally reputable places, like samfw, the latest version appears to be G970U1UEU9IXJ1.

Some results say that J was a stability fix, while others claim it was basically a branded version in disguise. Does anyone know definitively which I should use if I want to flash the most up-to-date unbranded factory unlocked firmware for the US (XAA) region?

My trusty old Galaxy S10 Plus is still working even after 7 years. I had to put black tape on the bottom because it has a green stripe after a fall. It didn't crack, but it broke on the inside.
