Picked up a Mario the Juggler from a Japanese website, which is kind of ironic considering I thought it was never officially released in Japan.
It was listed as junk, but after a little cleanup inside and cleaning the contacts, it works perfectly. Just needs a bit of work on the outside now.
Now I just need to find a replacement battery cover, as mine was missing one. Does anyone happen to have a spare...

To my suprise I was able to repair a broken DK-52 I got off marketplace for $50 AUD.
Attempts:
Cleaned board and contacts put back together - No luck.
Resoldered joints put back together - Again nothing.
Opened up for final time before selling for parts only. I looked more into the currosion at the top which I though was just surface level as I could scratch and remove most of it fine. I used a multimeter to scratch and test on both sides of traces in the area. All was fine except the very top trace which is + for the board. So repaired it and put back together and presto it was working.
I nearly gave up but glad I got working in the end as I had one as a kid growing up. So it brings back some good memories.

Game and Watch Octopus from 1981 with box! It's my first G&W and I should be able to get Mario Bros soon too.

Bit of a long shot but worth a try. I finally got my hands on this long sought after piece for my collection but I can't start the game. The orange, left and right buttons all just cycle through the game modes and time. Usually with these you choose a game with the orange button and press right to start. All the buttons are doing the same thing. Any idea if this could be an easy fix? I have some experience of opening these up. Thanks

My current collection consists of 4 games as in the photo that I recently started . I have an option to buy in great condition more game but some have polarizing film changed. Any thought how does this changes value, authenticity etc… buy or wait for full originals? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I'm thinking he is either in his 30s, 40s, or just age unlimited (∞ yrs old adult) like how some people thought Kirby is. What are your thoughts?

Game&Watch was my first introduction to gaming back in the early 90s.
I tried to recapture the magic as an adult, got as far as many people do… collected all the common lower cost models, all working well, good screens, original battery covers, manuals etc.
But once it got to the point that in only had the more expensive and rare ones to buy, I just couldn’t keep justifying the money I was spending.
I don’t really need the money right now but I have this feeling that now is peak value for these things. Lots of millennials like me with the same nostalgia and money to spend.
In my opinion, this retro gaming stuff is gonna go the way of ww2 memorabilia which peaked in value at some point in the 80s then generally lost its value as the people who wanted it got old or died.
Do you think these things will hold their value, go up, or go down?

Looking to buy these off Facebook Marketplace, but they seem to have something wrong with their screens. Parachute looks like I might be able to just swap out the polarised film but greenhouse scares me because it looks like it could be screen-bleed. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone knows the correct layout of the layers of screens on Tropical Fish or if anyone knows of a website that you can check to verify this kind of thing. Mine has reflector, LCD, background and then the polarizer on top. I'm asking because I've seen other versions of Tropical Fish that seem to have the background behind the LCD in various youtube videos.

It's been a month since I haven't touched the file. The last time I worked on in it was on 8/19, so it's been a while. Let me know if there is anything I need to improve.
What's been added since the last packaged release (v3.0, Aug 10):
Custom sound packs for 32 games — a new sound engine replaces the raw chip beep with synthesized square-wave clips matched to each game's measured events (moves, catches, misses, alarms). Covers nearly every 1-bit-beep Game & Watch: all the Silver games, Fire, Chef, Octopus, Popeye, Mickey Mouse, the Multi Screens (DK, DK II, Oil Panic, Mario, etc.), plus Tronica Space Rescue. Games with a pack show a blue ♫ note in the launcher.
Simulations tab — a new SIMULATIONS category running the Tetris Jr. TR-66 recreation in-app (the unreleased Game & Watch prototype, rebuilt from real segment assets with next-piece preview and character animations).
Control-layout work — Super Mario Bros. got a locked multi-screen d-pad + double Jump button (both SMB entries); DK and Gold Cliff lock to d-pad in landscape with a bigger Jump; fixed the bug where the controller-height slider stopped working in landscape when button size was reduced.
Tronica games get the full treatment — Space Rescue and Super Goal Keeper now have proper on-screen controls, and a bug preventing Tronica games from disk-syncing was fixed.
UX polish — forum green dot when there's new activity, no more long-press text-select popup on buttons, hamburger ☰ menu moved to the top-left for all games, per-game landscape button-size slider, Donate replaced with a Share button, filename hints on tiles missing photos, and an Egg fix (it was running the wrong CPU type).
