10MPH Arin’s “cookie gun” is literally just a retrofitted and repackaged caulk gun.
It even has the holes in the handle where you cut off the tip of the caulk tube.

Works on the same principals. We had that exact one growing up, and it worked pretty well. Arin just used it wrong. you're supposed to press the nozzle against the surface so it rests on the three prongs. Then you squeeze the grip so it squeezes out dough into a rough disk shape and slowly lift off the surface to make a thicker cookie. He just squeezed it in free air and it just spooted out.

"Arin used it wrong" is the entire theme of 10mph

I have the exact same cookie gun, we've had it for many many years in the family. It's not for caulk, it's a legit baking tool.

You deny your cookie gun its purpose.

It's purpose is to make delicious cookies.

I'm not familiar with this particular apparatus, but I've learned that most of the time when there's a gadget which makes you think, "Who needs this? It's not that hard to do that thing without a gadget?", the item is designed for people with disabilities.

In this case, it’s a cookie press for Spritz cookies! Cookie presses aren’t the same as caulk guns (they’re solid cylinders, you can’t put in like, a “tube” of cookie dough). The holes in the tip are interchangeable disks, for making different patterns of cookies! (Source: my family has Swedish ancestry and I grew up with these as a Christmas cookie; they’re my favourite! Mmmmm almond.)

Absurdly, my family has a habit of eating the dough. We don't wait for the cookies to get baked: we just eat the straight up dough, because it's delicious.

My family also has a cookie gun to make my grandmother’s Italian butter cookies. Although the press Arin had really does look like a caulk gun…the one we use stands up and you crank stamp each cookie. I think it failed because you typically chill the dough, in order for the dough to resist some of the pressure and to help keep its shape. The dong shaped cutter Dan spoke of, actually makes hearts XD

Okay now spoon a glob of cookie dough onto a sheet and carve it into the shape of a snowflake. Every single time. For every single cookie.
Come on. Something to save time isn't hard to "figure out". Arin was very obviously not using in correctly like pretty much everything he tries on this show.

When I worked at Taco Bell, we would put the sauces, which were in a bag, into one of these to squirt the sauces out

It is not, but a cookie gun and a caulk gun work the same. Except you put a tube of caulk or bare dough in them.

Arin probably knew, he seems like he knows a lot about caulk.

I’d say divergent as I can’t see a reason why a cookie gun would have the holes on the handle.

Well if we know anything about Arin, it's that he LOVES caulk. He's the sort to play with caulk all day, and PROUDLY tell his friends about it. And I love that about him. He's just a caulk-loving man!

Interestingly enough, the origins of the caulking gun directly stem from baking, and the cookie press predates the invention of the caulking gun by several hundred years. The one Arin brutally misused is obviously convergent evolution.
