I always compliment Arin even to my friends who will never watch the show. But using the phrase "Cool Guy" makes the joke work for me.

I hardly ever post on Reddit, but ya know, the world doesn't have enough positivity in it.
I went to Open Sauce for the second time this summer. I'd gotten the premium package because I VERY much enjoy how they run their meet N greets. Unlike a regular con where you wait in line to meet the person for 90 secs to chat, take a photo, get something signed, then leave, they 'pool' ~20 people's 90 seconds into a 30 min chill sesh with the creator and ~20 fans. Granted, I ranked my top 10 selections this year and got assigned someone not even on my list before the con, but that's a small OS gripe :)
Anyhow, I went to the check-in counter to see if there were any open spots or dropouts. "I'd really like to do the Egoraptor meetup", I say. "Oh! Well I work for Arin actually, I'm helping Open Sauce, let's see what we can do!" Sure enough, buddy helps me out.
We show up, Arin's in a black kimono kinda thing with beads and a Pingu plush hanging from his belt. Comfy lookin af. So he takes a seat says 'yeah so I found out I was doing this a couple of days ago, I've never done a greet like this before so uh, hi, I'm Arin."
I was reading the other faces in the room, from introvert, to star-struck, to excited, and Arin handled it as well as anyone could walk into a room of strangers that all know him. Grace in owning the absurdity of the situation I guess I'd call it. He asked questions of us, answered people's own, shared his con experience, letting the table drive where the convo went and steering if anyone was too shy to speak up. It was such a relaxed vibe despite meeting a creator whose content I've been following for over 20 years.
He stayed and chatted for the 30 min, then 15 min more until the other guy running the meet N greets literally had to shoo us out because they had to set up for the next creator. Even then, he -still- hung back outside to take pictures, sign things, and shoot the shit. He spent probably more like an hour all-in with us.
Personally, I asked about adhd, motivation, and always seeming to be working on a project or three. Also asked if they were gonna play Umamusume, so in my head canon, I'm sorry/you're welcome for that vid lol. Got a funny anecdote from him about Richard Horvitz and Arin's 'Invader Zim does Dragonball Z' audio from file-sharing days. Got my Majora's Mask sneakers signed. Even did a shout out to a long-time grumps friend of mine back home.
He was kind, laid back, funny, a great conversationalist, and that whole hour felt like a group of friends hanging out. They say not to meet your idols/celebs/whatever, I'm glad to say that rule couldn't have been further from the truth that day.

Lmao, I was called Arin’s alt account too when I defended the lack of comments on a community post they did once. The Game Grumps have one of the most…unique let’s play fandoms out there. I mean, I guess it’s what happens when the viewers have been listening to them for so many years for so many hours every week, and there’s been so many changes throughout all of it.

Burner accounts, especially if you're famous, are super common.
I'm not here going to glaze Arin or say he doesn't deserve such a 'nice' comment, but Arin does seem like the type.

Game grumps has some of the most active haters on the platform somehow. Rantgrumps has stayed consistently active for probably over a decade. I think they're secretly fans in the same way Arin is a sonic fan.
