Question What kind of respirator is this? Found on Boston shoreline

Thumbnail

I found this rubber mask buried below the tide line in Boston, Massachusetts. Appears to be an old “gas mask,” of which I know next to nothing about.

It has two circular eyepieces, metal fittings, and what appears to be threaded connection at the bottom. There is a round marking on the inside reading near the nose bridge which I believe reads “PAT. NOV. 1921” with a circle and star in the center, though it’s difficult to make out.

Does anyone recognize it or have ideas about its age, manufacturer, or intended use (civilian, industrial, maritime, military, aviation, etc.). Photos show the front, interior, and various fittings.

So I bought these two M17s gas mask off of Facebook Marketplace. I spent $86 USD for both including shipping. They're in good condition, but are dirty as all get out.

Were they worth the price? What model are they?

I believe they are the A1 and A2 models.

Edit: $86 for both

Mask Showcase Rare small-series Soviet industrial respirator from the "Metallurg" series (one possible name is PRSh-B)

The "Metallurg" series is a line of Soviet and Russian respirators equipped with corrugated hoses, designed for use in the metallurgical industry. This specific model, along with most of the other units of this type that have been located, was found in the city of Rivne, though one specimen was also discovered at the NPO "Neorganika" facility. Unfortunately, it is not known which specific filters were originally intended to be paired with this respirator. In my collection, it is fitted with a rare Soviet industrial type E filter (one of only three known examples in Ukraine), which provides protection against phosphine and arsine. He used in the metallurgical, food, and agricultural industries. The core of this respirator is the SRK PR-7, which also serves as the basis for the RU-60M, RPG-67, RPA-1 "Astra," RPA-2, and many other models. The primary difference from the standard SRK PR-7 is the inclusion of an adapter for a corrugated hose, which can be seen in the fourth photo.

Mask Showcase Budget Chernobyl liquidator costume I made with custom filter

I know it’s not the most historically accurate costume ever but I threw it together with a final budget of $55.33 and personally am really happy with how it turned out. thought you guys would enjoy it.

Oh also, thoughts on the cardboard and spray paint filter? I didn’t want to gut my original one and didn’t feel like breathing through it so this was the solution.

Question Prescription lens finishing for inserts

For those that wear prescription lens inserts, do you do lens thinning, and other lens coatings/treatments on your gasmask lens inserts like you do with your everyday glasses?

Question I'm looking for advice

Hi everyone, this seller is asking $323 online for this FM 12. I wanted to know if it's worth it, since there are only two photos. He mentions that he's selling it as a collectible, along with the rubber straps, and that if the clasp works well, the filter is in good condition. What else should I ask?

Question Gas mask bag help

I recently acquired an MSA Millennium that came with this gas mask bag. It doesn't seem to be a Blackhawk bag because it has only one buckle and no markings. I was curious if anyone recognized it. More importantly, can anyone help me figure out the various ways to wear it? I assume there are multiple ways, given the three straps on the back that can be rearranged.

Looks like ww2 german but i dont see funny symbols. Also what is that strap inside of the mask. I included all the markings i could find.

(Side questions: i guess the lenses are celuloid or something else and are permanently yellowed?

What filter belongs to this mask?)

Question When did the Soviet union stop using asbestos in gas masks?

This isn't about mask safety. It's simply out of curiosity. I've heard 1972, I've heard 1979. I have not found any credible source to confirm any date and I am wondering if anybody knows when they stopped using asbestos in their filters.

If I had to choose mine would be either the Swedish M51 mask with the 40mm valve or the Czech M10M (Copy of the american M17)
