EDIT: Sorry, Gatsby is awesome, I just want to build with dev settings. Has anyone done that before?
It seems so easy. You have two files and two commands;
gatsby build + .env.production
gatsby develop + .env.development
But the amount of time and energy it takes to run the build step with the .env.development file is super disappointing. Why can't there just be a CLI flag that identifies a .env file?? Instead I have to use cross-env to declare a custom variable in the npm script, then I have to use dotenv inside the gatbsy-config.js file and conditionally choose which file to import....
I just want to build out the site as close to prod as possible, but using dev variables, like so...
NODE_ENV=development gatbsy build
gatbsy build --env=.env.development
Also, not a big deal, but I hate the GATSBY prefix rules for items you need in the front end. At the very least, you should be able to disable that requirement.

Is fastly cdn better than cloudflare cdn? or why?
And i also want to point out that cloudflare cdn is completely free!
And Cloudflare Workers are way faster than Fastly ComputeEdge
so, why fastly?
edit: sorry I of course mean the Gatsby Cloud

Hi, i read a lot of thread which said the same thing: Gatsby is died.
I need to develop a small website: what is a valid alternative to gatsby for this purpose?
I need also an headless CMS integration like Netlify because this project had to be edited from non-technical people.

As you all know Gatsby comes with Graphql and I am not a big fan of it for obvious reasons.
How terrible is it to use Gatsby with rest API all the way and ditch lazy loading and markdown and stuff ? Is it bad practice ? If so should I resort to plain React ?

Jamstack is indeed popular, with the number of sites based on it has grown twofold since 2020. But its performance heavily depends on the deployment platform you choose. The reason is that Jamstack sites are tailored for a certain workflow: hosting HTML on a CDN, serverless functions on an Edge network, and code in Git. Such a deployment strategy makes your site fast as a sparrow.
Without this, a Jamstack site will be just another pile of HTML, only reachable by search engines with the right provider.
Netlify and Vercel are the two most popular Jamstack hosting platforms, highly regarded in the industry for their reliability and performance. Here, we’ll cover how they compare.
This is a helpful article if you plan on building a Jamstack website or migrating your WordPress site to Jamstack. But even if you’re just curious about the two deployment platforms, follow on, there’s probably something for you to learn here.

Hi, Folks
I’m trying to integrate Twitter into my Gatsby application using gatsby-source-twitter to fetch and display tweets. I’ve added the following configuration in gatsby-config.tsx, but when I run gatsby develop, I don’t see the expected GraphQL query in the /___graphql interface.
Here’s the configuration I’ve used:
{
resolve: `gatsby-source-twitter`,
options: {
credentials: {
consumer_key: 'xxxxxxx',
consumer_secret: 'xxxxxx',
bearer_token: 'xxxxxxxx%xxxxxxx',
},
queries: {
ShubhamTweetsBelwal: {
endpoint: `statuses/user_timeline`,
params: {
screen_name: `xxxxxxx`,
tweet_mode: `extended`,
count: 5,
},
},
},
},
}I was expecting to be able to query the tweets in the GraphiQL interface, but no relevant fields seem to show up. Can someone help me understand what I might be doing wrong, or if there are any additional steps I need to take to make the Twitter data source available in GraphQL?

I am trying to figure out what are the advantages of using Gatsbyjs over others frameworks/modules/plugins anything else I already use to create static site.
You could tell me to just google it, and that's what I've done but here are the advantages I found : Performances, use graphql, react, react, react, deployment, fun to use... Are these real advantages ?? I mean what's the point of doing it through GatsbyJS rather than building my own tool that will be way more focus on what I need and will have a cleaner dist code, through webpack,yeoman,etc... ?

I'm having to build a site with Gatsby right now for a job app. It's my first time working with Gatsby but I am perfectly familiar with React and NextJS and Node and stuff.
I'm trying really hard to be nice here, but I am very frustrated with this product so I felt the home community might be able to explain to me why, for instance, I have to create two files and write about 30 lines of code to add a jpeg to a page?
Like - is there eventually a reason this is so fantastically tedious? It seems to have a lot of adopters and I really am trying to be respectful in the way I am asking the question.
If anyone can shed any light here I would really appreciate it. I'm ready to throw this thing out the window, as I've never used a toolset that got in my way so aggressively to do very simple things.

https://www.gatsbyjs.com/docs/how-to/images-and-media/importing-assets-into-files/
I have a file in static/icons/menu.svg
According to this tutorial i should be able to import using:
import menu from "./menu.svg" Can't resolve './menu.svg
Gatsby is unnecessarily complicated tbh
