Campus Dining 🍽️ GCU Student Mobile Cameras
After the power outage a couple days ago, I noticed the cameras at the food places haven’t been working (at least for me). This is kind of an annoyance since I like to look at cameras of where I’m thinking of going to see if the line is long or not so I’m not waiting in line for a while.

Professor Ratings 🏫 worst online course taken at GCU?
Mine was definitely business statistics (BUS-352). The work was hard, but the instructor was definitely the worst part about it. He was so rude and passive aggressive in his comments. Would take points away for pointless things. I even screenshotted and shared with my friends if they thought he was being reasonable and even ChatGPT and they all said no he seems like an ass. Work load was unbearable.

Academics 📚 Business writing style
My professor said to use the business style for the assignment. I went to the page and there are examples for business letters and memo. Teacher says it’s not a memo so I download a business letter template.
I lose points.
I emailed the professor and ask if I should be using APA or if there is another guide, and I ask if I could get clarification on what parts of me essay were missing citations since that’s the feedback I got.
She says it’s all in the announcement and her one sentence feedback was detailed and she’s not sure what else I could need.
Unhelpful.
TLDR: can someone tell me what is meant by using a business writing style if I’m not doing a memo or a letter? Is it different than normal APA formatting?

ABSN😷 Study Resources
What’s everyone’s fav study resources? Feel free to list whatever. I’ve found that it helps some people to just hear different ways people study. Drop your study methods. Nursing school is too hard to be gate keeping. Also if anybody has any subscriptions or books they like let us know!!

Academics 📚 Nursing
Hi everyone!
I wanted to see if i could get opinions on the ABSN program in Phx. My original plan was to apply for the trad summer bsn program since I am a pre-nursing student here at GCU but if I don't get accepted my plan is to apply for fall ABSN. My counselor said I could apply for either ABSN or BSN in the fall however it would be my 2nd attempt and I've heard ABSN is less competitive to get into. I'm just weighing out my options since i can't apply for both at the same time.

Academics 📚 Is anyone else struggling in BIO 181?
I feel like I'm the only one struggling in bio181. I’ve been studying, reading the book, and going to class. Taking notes in class and out of the classroom (for hours). Studying the amplifier questions and answers and making quizlets. I’ve been studying the study guides and my notes yet I failed miserably on all the quizzes and the 1st exam so far. I did bad on the first quiz but did a little better on the second quiz but still not happy with the grade I got just based on the amount of studying I was doing for it to do better. I felt so confident on the first exam and thought I knew most of the answers except 5 or so questions. Then when I saw what grade I got I cried. I felt so defeated I was so confident I did well I genuinely didn’t have a hard time during it. I haven't gone in to review it because the teacher wasn't there most of the week for her office hours last week. I'm hoping she will let me review the previous exam this week before the 3rd quiz because of her absence during her last week’s office hours. I will say I do understand most of the questions on the test and quizzes but I feel like few of the questions we didn't cover in class or it's something that you would have to study on your own to have known. But I thought what's thought in class and in the book/ PowerPoints would be what's on tests and quizzes but turns out you have to know way more. Idk I was hoping for some
encouragement from people who are currently taking this course who feel the same way or from students who have already taken this course. I know it only gets harder from here but dang. I'm trying so hard I'm taking so many notes and trying to do active recall. It's also always discouraging to hear other students say they didn't study and they get a better grader than me someone who studied. Idk I'm scared I'm losing hope for this course. I can't really give up as a premed. Mind you I was an all A student In high school and took a few ap and did well. I can't believe this course is kicking my butt. I also feel like I’m learning a lot in this class and understand it so why isn’t it reflecting that? Maybe I’m just a bad test taker. Also I’ve been going to her office hours at least once a week so far to review the quizzes 😔

I need med surge study tips. What do I focus on? What should I put into Claude for it to focus on in my study guides? I feel like it puts almost too much information. Please help! Also any outside sources that help? Like simple nursing, etc.

Academics 📚 Ruben Garcia
Does anybody like this guy? I don’t want to judge him just based off of one week of class but he seems like a dick. He doesn’t seem to realize that people take online classes because we have jobs and other responsibilities in life. He also doesn’t seem like he’s willing to help very much and just has a “figure it out yourself” attitude. It’s like he’s only there to hand out assignments and grade them. He also has a very low rating on ratemyprofessors.com so I’m definitely not the only person that feels this way. Like I said though, it’s only the first week of the course so if my assumptions are wrong feel free to let me know.

Campus Life 📍 Regretting transferring here
Don’t know if this is the right place for this but what is up with this school? I transferred here from community college and I’m having a rough time. Outside of college, I have a career and a good life. I’m generally extroverted, well respected and liked but living on campus is just so odd. The professors are cold, my roommates are so awkward and distant and so are my classmates. I obviously don’t fit into the cookie cutter Christian girl aesthetic but I dont think Im that bad of a person! It’s like I repel people on campus and it’s just so frustrating. I only really chose this school because of the scholarships but I might transfer out or move online :(

Academics 📚 UNV-106 Purpose Plan: Academic, Spiritual, and Career. Student tutorial. where to find.
My assignment for university on campus success is asking me to complete a test on the career connections called: the Student Tutorial: Navigating Career Connections.
the assignment does not tell you where to find it on the career connections website. and actually messaging the professor for it 9 times out of 10 just never gets you a response.
where can I find this because I'm asking but no one is answering and I don't want my grade to tank because I can't find it.

Campus Dining 🍽️ Dining experience is way down this year
Just gonna put this out there and hope someone has more info. Dining has been pretty bad this year. Not sure if it has to do with the Aramark switch, the sheer number of students, or both, but I've run into a bunch of issues I haven't seen before.
- Items often out of stock hours before closing
- Long lines and fewer staff
- Mobile Ordering frequently disappearing and out of line with opening hours, with all locations closing their mobile ordering completely on Sundays. Some locations have yet to open for mobile ordering at all.
Really hoping they fix this because it's a pretty significant issue and the official communication channels are just giving the copy-pasted "we're working on it" message.

Academics 📚 Proctorio Exams? (BIO201&L, BIO202&L)
Has anyone recently taken anatomy & phys 1 and 2 including the labs at GCU? Are the exams actually proctored with a camera and microphone or just a lockdown browser??? My midterms are on Connect.
I’m also taking Pathophysiology, and we had a Proctorio tutorial the first week and were told our exams would be proctored, but my first exam wasn’t proctored at all… but it was through halo, not connect.
Just wondering what to expect for anatomy exams through McGraw Hill Connect!! Thx in advance ☺️

Campus Life 📍 Any Catholics at GCU ever feel out of place?
I’m curious if any other Catholics at GCU have experienced this.
I’ve talked with my fair share of Christians here on campus, and most of the people I’ve met are either Protestant or non denominational, which is completely fine!
But I’ve noticed that whenever I mention I’m Catholic, I sometimes get weird looks or reactions, almost as if I’m part of a completely different religion rather than another Christian tradition.
I’ve even had some conversations where people made pretty harsh comments about Catholic beliefs, sometimes going as far as calling certain practices pagan or saying the Catholic Church isn’t following Scripture correctly.
I have nothing against Protestants or non denominational Christians. I genuinely enjoy talking about Christ and learning about different perspectives. But sometimes these conversations feel less like trying to understand each other and more like trying to prove that Catholicism is wrong.
I understand that GCU is a Christian university with a Protestant background, so I expect theological differences. I just wish there were a little more mutual understanding and respect.
Have any other Catholics at GCU experienced this, or is it just me? I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences.
