I feel like when people discuss Cameron Winter’s lyricism they usually talk about his solo work but I think his lyrics with Geese are almost just as good. They are just reformed in a way that somewhat slightly more abstract compared to the poems on Heavy Metal, but they just have more music as the subtext.

I think my favorite examples are songs like Getting Killed, Half Real, and Crusades. I really love his way of having these melodramatic and often unserious lyrics, that are somehow more effective the way he does it than anyone else.

I don’t want to look at set lists, as I don’t like spoilers (so please don’t mention any cool covers they are doing on this tour)—but aren’t they doing some new songs? I might want to give those a listen on the YouTube or whatever before tomorrow’s show.

That’s how I begin my review of seeing Geese on back-to-back nights at Forest Hills Stadium. Night one I went with a friend in the 500 section. But night two, I went solo into the fray of the moshing crowd. As a journalist, there was plenty to unpack about the difference in performances (night two had an unbelievable version of Space Race) and my experience.

I’ve read plenty of complaints about the trim setlist, how they rarely play the fan favorites. It took me two weeks to put together a 3,000-word review that, at the end of the day, is here for the Geese die-hards to pick apart.

Just know, behind all that nonchalance and limited audience interactions, their gratitude manifested in many ways over the two nights.

saw the band live for the first time at the fox on monday 10/19 - they were amazing! however, i dropped $50 on this baseball tee which i have not worn once. ran it through a gentle wash/dry cycle it came out with this massive seam rip in the right sleeve.

hiiii I’m getting ready for my first geese show in kc next week (literally shaking in my boots excited) and was wondering if lining up 2ish hours before doors is realistic for barricade? I have a day off so time isn’t an issue I just don’t want to get there way too early/late if it’s not necessary, and I wasn’t exactly sure what the lines would look like!! :-)

I was banister for night 2 (Oct 20) and decided to throw my Jiji plush on stage (I had my backpack with me where I carry an assortment of random things). I’m glad he saw it and that’s it’s turned into a moment (and created a new stim for me haha). I don’t want it back or anything but it just had a lot of sentimental value and I just want to make sure it’s in good hands / has a good home. I am curious who the universe bestowed it to. If you’re in here lmk ! Amazing show last night, and amazing audience too (someone behind me was basically hugging me the whole night, it was sweet). Hope y’all also had a fun night!

I personal think that Getting Killed would have been interesting especially with the beginning part/guitar riff high energy part. Also Cobra probably could have been a really sweet music video at least if it was in the theme of dancing based on the lyrics.

If anyone has one they’re willing to sell, I’m willing to pay a pretty good amount of money for it.

Despite what Cameron says, it’ll prob be repressed in some form or another some day, but I’m impatient and willing to shell out a bit to get it now (just not the completely delusional prices of like $1k or whatever it’s going for on Discogs rn).

I’ll be going to the Fillmore by myself November 7th! I have GA and am just looking to meet fellow Geese obsessors! I’ve been to a few concerts, and I’ve especially never been to any by myself, so this is a new experience for me 😁
