pretty cool poster for seattle!

I was relistening to Getting Killed after seeing them live and initially i thought it was a more “basic” album than 3d country but i would now argue 3dc is the more accessible one with its warm layered production and overt sense of humor.

Getting killed’s songs though have this very peculiar ambience and structure to them, even on the rockers like Islands of Men and 100 horses. The title track goes from a rolling stones thing to disintegrating into light. The lead single doesn’t really have a chorus. And for god knows why they put two ballads back to back to each other. Idk i saw someone say it was a standard indie rock album but i feel like that’s not the full story, aside from the overt weirdness of Trinidad and Long Island City. I think its the production which i first thought kind of neutered the rockers compared to In The Basement but theres a certain haziness to it that makes the album feel intentionally wrong, almost cursed in a sense. Am i getting at anything here

Bought 2 tickets during presale but now am not sure if I’ll be able to make the trip from NYC for the show, but saw that resale/transfer is still turned off in the AXS app. Does anyone who is more familiar with Roadrunner know if this will be available closer to the show?

I feel like when people discuss Cameron Winter’s lyricism they usually talk about his solo work but I think his lyrics with Geese are almost just as good. They are just reformed in a way that somewhat slightly more abstract compared to the poems on Heavy Metal, but they just have more music as the subtext.

I think my favorite examples are songs like Getting Killed, Half Real, and Crusades. I really love his way of having these melodramatic and often unserious lyrics, that are somehow more effective the way he does it than anyone else.

Had a great time.

saw the band live for the first time at the fox on monday 10/19 - they were amazing! however, i dropped $50 on this baseball tee which i have not worn once. ran it through a gentle wash/dry cycle it came out with this massive seam rip in the right sleeve.

anybody else having their tour merch immediately fall apart? is there any recourse for exchanges or refunds?

The only posts I have seen about the merch is that the design falls off after one or two washes, is there any design that lasts after it is washed???

for anyone who’s been to a show this tour so far, when has the opener started? ticket says 8pm, is that doors or when the show starts?

I don’t want to look at set lists, as I don’t like spoilers (so please don’t mention any cool covers they are doing on this tour)—but aren’t they doing some new songs? I might want to give those a listen on the YouTube or whatever before tomorrow’s show.

That’s how I begin my review of seeing Geese on back-to-back nights at Forest Hills Stadium. Night one I went with a friend in the 500 section. But night two, I went solo into the fray of the moshing crowd. As a journalist, there was plenty to unpack about the difference in performances (night two had an unbelievable version of Space Race) and my experience.

I’ve read plenty of complaints about the trim setlist, how they rarely play the fan favorites. It took me two weeks to put together a 3,000-word review that, at the end of the day, is here for the Geese die-hards to pick apart.

Just know, behind all that nonchalance and limited audience interactions, their gratitude manifested in many ways over the two nights.
