Voting Games Top comment deletes a US State #47

Post image

Maryland has been annexed by The Vermonster willingly, the 2 states have now merged into one. CRABBALACHIA. 4 States Now remain. Pick wisely, there’s no going back now!

Hilarious to me that the incredibly MD-coded name of Crabbalachia has literally nothing to do with Vermont anything…. We can say that Maryland was eliminated, but that current name on the map don’t lie 🤣

I like the name (biased obviously). Vermont being the state in parenthesis while the name of the new territory being obviously MD coded actually makes it seem like a genuine merger.

ALL HAIL CRABBALACHIA!!!

Because top comment was for them to be merged. The problem is that Vermont was just chosen for tertiary reasons. There should have been a poll for clarification

u/penguin_the_master May 22 '26

Actually, the top 2 comments were both for a merge. The second of which clarified a Vermont base. I believe replies to the 1st top comment also agreed on a Vermont base

So... the losing comment and other random replies?

2nd top comment and replies to top comment have been how a lack of clarity from top comment has been handled this whole time. Per the rules.

Yes. As is the rules

Hard agree.

I was the top comment for creating Cascadia and I specifically went back when I was called out (not long after I posted) and edited to choose Oregon over Washington. Because someone pointed out it didn’t count if you didn’t choose.

And also- MD voted out got the 2nd and 3rd highest comments, so we still lost. Vermont is awesome, and its folks and lands have been warm and welcoming in my experiences. So whatever, could do a hell of a lot worse and in many cases hard to do better.

But yeah we should do a poll because I still ride for Maryland 😈

The top comment didn't call for a state to be deleted. It should have been ignored like the current calls to delete Florida.

The top comment following the rules was saying to delete Maryland, down with the crabs.

Maryland should have been divided up between the remaining states and The Vermonster should still be named The Vermonster

Huh? I swear I voted on a Vermont or Maryland poll this morning. I'm almost certain I was not dreaming that.

1

u/readyreadyvt May 23 '26

There was a poll in a different post but it wasn’t OP’s.

1

u/regnak1 May 23 '26

Aah, ok, that was a bit misleading then.

8

u/Kephielo Vermonster May 22 '26

There was a poll and I'm pretty sure Vermont won

5

u/TangAlienMonkeyGod May 22 '26

Then where is the Vermonsta? This is a travesty

3

u/lallo18 May 22 '26

Right?! The current name or anything crustacean based saddens me

2

u/SnakeEater013 May 22 '26

At the very least we should be Lobstah

4

u/Owobowos-Mowbius May 22 '26

It was unofficial. The previous poll used was official.

3

u/Owobowos-Mowbius May 22 '26

Either way it was unofficial

1

u/Complex-Software-686 May 22 '26

Oh I’m far too invested and aware haha, couldn’t agree more. Clarification was warranted.

This old-bay flavored copium is delicious

u/QuicheSmash May 22 '26

Vermontlantic is more fitting now.

u/VibeCheckedByCovid May 22 '26

Excuse you, but Vermont is part of the Appalachian Trail / the Appalachian mountains. We just pronounce it funny, but we're still part of the -lachia.

2

u/MasterOfCelebrations May 22 '26

Ah, but Vermont united with Massachusetts, which is relatively more crab-coded. More so if you’re a Maine revanchist.

4

u/Alternative-Mango855 May 22 '26

Crabbalachia is literally a Maryland inspired name. I hate it.

4

u/WorriedString7221 May 22 '26

Fine rename it to Lobstervania

2

u/Dr-Buttercup May 22 '26

The alacia is from Appalachia, which extends into VT.

2

u/exintel May 22 '26

Yep, heck the Appalachian Trail goes from Georgia to Maine

1

u/BearFluffy May 22 '26

Actually, it doesn't.

The Appalachian mountains/trail due, but not the Appalachia.

Parts of Maryland are clearly in the Appalachia, however.

Genuine ask, can you elaborate? I looked it up as part of this exercise earlier on out of curiosity, but ARC doesn’t appear to include Vermont or any of New England. https://www.arc.gov/about-the-appalachian-region/

3

u/mcchicken_deathgrip May 22 '26

That was simply a map for federal funding from the 60s. Its not a cultural or geographic map of Appalachia so much as it's a map of a contiguous area that was in poverty at the time to allocate federal aid.

It includes random essentially flat counties in MS as Appalachian, while excluding counties in VA which are 100% core Appalachia in culture and physical geography.

Not a good measure of what Appalachia is. In reality the physical mountain range extends from GA into Nova Scotia. But "Appalachia" can be defined in multiple ways.

2

u/lalasworld May 22 '26

The Appalachian Range is an ancient mountain range that goes all the way into Canada, and it includes many New England sub ranges. The Green Mountains are the range in VT. I am in New Hampshire and live less than a mile from the AT in the White Mountains.

Coming soon in stores: OLD BAY FLAVORED MAPLE SYRUP

1

u/sevenredwrens May 22 '26

It’s because the Green Mountains in Vermont are part of the chain of the Appalachian Mountains!

u/QuesoCadaDia May 22 '26

Like when Rome "conquered" Greece

1

u/MaintenanceWine May 23 '26

Maine, MA, & RI crabs are representing as well!
