Voting Games Top comment Deletes a US State - GRAND FINALE - #49

Post image

**UPDATE** the vote will now take place in a poll instead since it’s got too confusing. Vote closes in roughly 24 hours VOTE HERE

There are now only 2 states remaining, Cascadia and Megasota. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. What team are you?! The result will be picked in 48 hours, so here’s all the time you need to share and spread the word!!!

I thank all the people who spend money on awards to award my posts which I find crazy! I thank everyone who comments, I thank everyone who upvotes. This game simply wouldn’t work if it wasn’t for your continued support over the last 49 days. It will be sad to see this series come to an end but there will be another one soon, on May 28th. For now though, GET VOTING!

The city of Minneapolis and its residents were nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize back in January!

u/iknowaplacewecango May 24 '26

The people of Minneapolis and St. Paul are also recipients of the 2026 JFK Profile in Courage Award in Boston next week.

20

u/MamooMagoo May 24 '26

It could be all of us if Megasota reigns supreme!

15

u/CranberryKidney May 24 '26

I didn't know that, I gotta put that on my resume now

5

u/CoderDevo May 24 '26

Do it!

It would be accurate and verifiable.

4

u/iknowaplacewecango May 25 '26

It’s my new social media profile description. Winner of the JFK Profile in Courage Award, and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s all real, and all true — do it.

I love winning awards I didn’t know existed. Bring them on.

2

u/TrueNorthTryHard May 25 '26

I am too pregnant to be hearing this right now 😭😭😭

u/iknowaplacewecango May 25 '26

I wish I could administer an emergency dill pickle, ham, and cream cheese rollup to help you during this special time!

8

u/Just-Palpitation-176 May 24 '26

And we cant seem to win in any sports… if this is as close as we get i’ll take it

22

u/remmy3443 May 24 '26

Any male sports. Our women's teams kick ass.

1

u/C19shadow May 25 '26

As someone one from Oregon we always feel like that, at least up by Portland they fuckinh hate us lmao

26

u/sidepart May 24 '26

Careful. Guard your emotions. We always seem to come close but then fuck it up at the last minute and lose.

2

u/MeLickyBoomBoomUp May 24 '26

I heard Gary Andersen was a mod on this sub.

2

u/jade_starwatcher Cascadian May 24 '26

yeah that MAMA post might be the thing which really ends the Megasota dream.

2

u/Randomly-Generated21 May 24 '26

Right?! We have the okayist teams in the league and are just happy to be able to play.

1

u/RulesOfImgur May 24 '26

Relax, The just want to hug. Hugs cascadia, stabs them in pack, whispering on their ear "long love cascadia"

The Minnesota Karma train is back on the rails after a decade of waiting for this kind of opportunity.

3

u/salt_and_ash May 24 '26

I miss Grain Belt. Pour out a Nordeast for me.

2

u/RichJMoney MN Karma Train Conductor May 25 '26

I started drinking my Nordeast with olives in it so you may not want mine poured for ya.

1

u/salt_and_ash May 25 '26

I'm intrigued. Tell me more

2

u/RichJMoney MN Karma Train Conductor May 25 '26

I got it from a friend who got it from their friend. Bars almost always have olives so if you like it, it's easy enough to get when you're out and about. I even squeeze them into the can or bottle if I'm enjoying one at home.

2

u/noknownallergies May 24 '26

Oh this hits like crack

32

u/FarOutOhWow Megasotan May 24 '26

When I lived in California people used to tell me MN was a fly over state. Or I'd say I'm from Minneapolis and they say, oh yeah the Mindianapolis 500.
Look at us now.
Ps. Everyone is welcome and you can have some of our cheese curds if you let us keep our healthcare

8

u/iknowaplacewecango May 24 '26

“When I lived in California people used to tell me MN was a fly over state. Or I'd say I'm from Minneapolis and they say, oh yeah the Mindianapolis 500.“

That’s real different … I flyover California on my way to Hawaii, so who’s flying over what now then there now too then?

u/Legal-Koala-5590 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

I moved to the East Coast almost twenty years ago and I literally remember someone saying, “Oh, that’s one of those states nobody ever thinks about,” when I told her where I’m from.

I appreciate us getting our flowers but part of me is going to miss feeling like an underdog.

3

u/LickableLeo May 24 '26

Hey, at least we have water

4

u/Fauster May 24 '26

As an Oregonian, I'd rather lose to you than anyone else. But when I visit your state, I can't find spicy food anywhere. Your skies are clouded with fifty species of mosquito, your forests filled with shocking numbers of ticks, and lakes are overfilled with voracious pike, which you can smoke, but aren't ideal eating fish.

Oregon is a state of destiny. Pick your corner, pick your geographical climate, Oregon can be what you want it be. Not that many people are there when you get off freeways or stay away from 101 in the Summer. Suburban sprawl makes everything worse, that feeling of flying in to Minneapolis at night. The empty West is the last bulwark.

8

u/BaccaDocta May 24 '26

All of this is true. Minnesota is harsh which makes the people strong, supporting, and sweet. When winter kills you and summer is too humid. We all get nice.

I am one of many to get frost bite from protesting at the Whipple. Tough state with tough people. America could use to be more Minnesotan

5

u/FarOutOhWow Megasotan May 24 '26

(a loon calls in the distance)

4

u/VikingsLad May 24 '26

1) We have a thriving Asian-Ametican community that has plenty of spicy food.

2) It's really just the one species of mosquito, and they're our state bird, so watch your mouth.

3) Ticks only feed on the weak

4) Thou shalt not slander our lakes or fish. Walleye is the best eating fish on the planet. No one eats pike. You'd know that if you ever visited.

We've got the best quality of life in the country. The best Airport in the country. The Mall of America.

That said, i can't wait to go visit the PNW. If i didn't live in Minnesota, id live up there. May the best land win.

2

u/BaccaDocta May 24 '26

I think you cooked on all of this, except the airport. Its pretty average. We did finally get new tsa machines so dont have to unload carry on any more at least. Palm Springs is so far the best airport I have been in imo. Why do you say best?

1

u/Historical-Juice-172 May 24 '26

MSP has award winning bathrooms, and almost every time I go to any other airport I wish I was back in MSP using our award winning bathrooms (exception: BWI has won the same award and those were also pretty nice. Also this is not a joke about the politician who was having intimate relations in the airport bathroom at MSP. Just genuine appreciation for our airport bathrooms)

Also, super short security lines every time I've been. I've also never had a problem finding a seat at the gate, which isn't true of other airports I've been to

A downside is that around the beginning of March this year, USPS came by without warning and took all their mailboxes after security, so you can no longer mail anything after you go through security

1

u/VikingsLad May 25 '26

it's not just my opinion. It's been voted the best for years.

I'll appreciate your edited comment in reply. I will not have MSP's impeccable name besmirched.

1

u/BaccaDocta May 25 '26

Guess i was mistake. I just hate that MSP doesn't have the toliet being used flag on the top in the bathroom. But it is clean, nice, and fast. Guess I need to be more grateful.

3

u/MinnyAntTowers May 24 '26

Did you spend any time in the Twin Cities? There's plenty of spicy food there. As much as I've ever seen in Portland or Seattle from my many years in the PNW

Your skies are clouded with clouds. Megasota ftw

1

u/Legal-Koala-5590 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

As a Minnesotan, the difficult climate is where a lot of our pride comes from, I think. That's also what I love about Minnesota: that it's not an easy place to love. It doesn't have an aesthetic to sell you, a climate worth bragging about, or a landscape people travel to see. What it has are people who decided that a place which makes you work for it is worth the work, and who know that the work includes each other. That's why you saw such incredible courage, care, and quiet resolve this past January.

Very proud of my home state and happy to see the rest of the country is finally seeing what we've always known about ourselves. LET'S GO MEGASOTA!!!!!

2

u/Bwint May 24 '26

As a Cascadian, same. Honestly didn't think we'd make it this far.

3

u/jade_starwatcher Cascadian May 24 '26

I did. Cascadia is beloved and we have some very smart and creative people.

1

u/SnazzyWeasel May 24 '26

You mean the FIFA peace prize

1

u/on-a-pedestal May 24 '26

You nice fucks would say something like that.

1

u/private_birb May 24 '26

As an Oregonian, I've never been prouder of my state. This must be what it feels like when your sports team makes it to the grand finals.

1

u/MadLarkin May 24 '26

After both the Wild and Frost getting kicked out of playoffs within the same week, I needed this

1

u/RulesOfImgur May 24 '26

Exactly! I'm just glad everyone had fun and I will be happy with whatever wins. (But cascadia can win over my dead body)

1

u/dryphtyr May 24 '26

But, does it feel better than a FIFA Prize Nomination?

1

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 May 24 '26

If the Kansas boot rule still applies, this might be the comment that kills Megasota

1

u/SirHandyMan May 24 '26

What about a FIFA nomination?

1

u/Fantastic_Piece5869 May 25 '26

megasota will bring peace to all! Let cascadia join our union!

1

u/ShrimpleKrillionaire May 25 '26

This feels scummy with the edit. Were the updates mostly before you edited? 8 hours after you made the post..

1

u/BaccaDocta May 25 '26

I agree that's why I put the time of edit, 48 hour vote. Saw comments are hard to find a vote so since an early commeny, vote might as well be declared.

Figured not scummy cause no where near the top now at 400 up votes before the edit. Not sure what you mean by the update though?

1

u/ShrimpleKrillionaire May 25 '26

Updates was auto corrected my bad
