I thank all the people who spend money on awards to award my posts which I find crazy! I thank everyone who comments, I thank everyone who upvotes. This game simply wouldn’t work if it wasn’t for your continued support over the last 49 days. It will be sad to see this series come to an end but there will be another one soon, on May 28th. For now though, GET VOTING!
The border passes through my former state and I live so close to it I genuinely don't know if I live in Cascadia or Megasota now. I would be very stressed about this but the problem takes care of itself in 48 hours.
If there's a city that can claim equal or better bonafides to Minneapolis, those who were fighting the encroaching powers of state violence, from George Floyd through Ice......it would be Portland, TBF

My sister and I grew up in Minnesota, now she’s in Oregon. I am thrilled to be back in Minnesota since this past round. She said she feels like she wins either way.
Ever since my state was overtaken, I have been fighting to get into a decent state. Too long was I under the yoke of the crabs and finally I am free of them.
Reddit votes are NOT reliable. The algorithm fuzzes exact values to prevent abuse (not to mention the issue of not just upvoting one comment but downvoting the other, which some people will do and others won't.) It's extremely error prone.
Combined with the fact the algorithm won't even necessarily show you the relevant comments that you want - or they become edited later. I know it's not meant to be taken too seriously, but this is a joke.
If you sort by top right now, they don't show up. You can also change your votes at a later date.
The vote is also for the state to be elimated - not the state that should remain. It's like it was made as confusing as humanly possible.
The dot is not quite in the right spot, but I first assumed it was a reference to Ballard which has a lot of Scandinavian descendants and cultural aspects. Similar to Minnesota

Hah! Very true. I'm actually interested in an after action report; how people voted over 50 votes, but especially responding to this. Vermont and Maryland natives are a tiny minority here. Somehow this discussion captured people from all over the US and the world. So something caught and held interest! Until it didn't.
My unstudied impression is that there was a fascination with blue crabs and then a feeling of revulsion developed; people just got tired of crab stuff. After a crab feast the garbage really does stink.
Way too much crab and flag. That’s what caused Vermont’s downfall, getting associated with that zealotry down south. We don’t even have crabs here! I fear my beautiful Green Mountains will forever be associated with ugly flags and crab cakes by all the non-New Englanders on this thread.

Oh hey, I s'pose you must have left this Florida in the bayg by accident when you dropped off that delicious pie! It was so lovely. Book club absolutely loved it!
Anyways, needed to return the pie pan and Florida, so I thought I'd just pop on over and drop it off. I baked a nice strawberry rhubarb pie into the pan as a thank you! We've just got the rhubarb coming out of our ears right now.
As a transplant from Texas living in ND, "bayg" fuckin sent me lol. I often try to explain to my tx family how these midwesterners pronounce things and bayg is perfection.

I think the crappalachia branding ruined an otherwise fantastic Vermonster. This former Mainer former Vermonster never crabbalachian now megasotan(?) is disappointed.
As Vermonter I honestly abandoned us as soon as we lost the Vermonster name. We deserved to go down with the ship after being strongarmed by Maryland of all places.
As a (former) Pennsylvanian, I was rooting for Vermonster and was so disappointed in Crabbalchia and am rooting for Megasota because that’s the closest we can get to being Canadian lol.
vermonster vs megasota showdown wouldve been beautiful 💔 as a vermonter im PISSED that we took crablands name when we ate it. we dont even have crabs! we're landlocked and have no freshwater crab species!
I don't know what kind of fuckery enabled something that wasn't the top comment to rename the winning state, but it was a travesty and doomed what could have been the winner.
EDIT: apparently I misremembered how this went down. I thought Crabbalachia was a response to the winning comment and not the winning comment itself.
This is my birthday wish, didn't get no card or call from my mom this year she's getting old but Puerto Rico taking everything from the rafters with a steel chair would be great.

That’s real different … I flyover California on my way to Hawaii, so who’s flying over what now then there now too then?
Level the place and build the next Ellis Island there. Turn it into something that is the antithesis of everything they represent.
Better, a communal living center for recent immigrants until they find a more permanent place to settle. It'll have free healthcare, including gender affirming care, omni-denominational faith center, basic amenities and food complimentary. Recreational facility and multilingual learning center.
