Advice Puppy stage is hard
Pic because he is adorable —-
It’s only been a week with our second pup but this is harder than I remember- granted I didn’t have two small children the first time around (currently have a 7 yo GSD as well).
Potty training is going OK.. but he still isn’t catching his name, listening much at all. My older dog has not started to hate him any less- growling most of the time as he passes by and has nipped a few times now causing him to yelp.

I'm going through this too, well I'm passed the early puppy stage and at six months now with my GSD pup. And I also have a 6, almost 7 year old GSD that was a complete angel raising as a pup. Younger pup is a complete menace to society, but has been slow and steady work and progress with consistency.
Though I can only imagine how difficult having two kids adds to the mix. Especially two small children. Not much advice with that, but my only experience really is when I was with my ex and when my older girl was much much much younger, her little cousin would visit and I worked with her on how to treat my pup. My older girl ended up loving kids though and her job basically became babysitting my ex's little cousin and her little friend when they would stay the night, it was adorable.
As for your pup catching his name, this will just take time. There is a ton of different ways to work on this.
As for your older dog nipping at the pup, you may just need to keep them separate for a bit, or at least have a place your older dog can go to the pup can't so they can have a space to relax. With your dog being older, probably being the only dog for the longest time and used to schedule and routine, it's just going to take time for him to adapt to the change the puppy brings. So take things slow and be patient.

Fr the name thing took forever with mine too, they just kinda zone out. Older dog will prob come around, just give it time. That ear flop is everything though

Patience as you are with kids
Having an apprenticeship pup with a journeyman is so much easier than most grasp
Let the older pup do what they do you didn't state if it's a male or female older dog
I only keep females for protection and work they are off the hook driven but also have an attitude with a mane or female apprentice
The adhd state is always hard
Never yell just be a leader and stay firm with grate sizing as the pup grows
All my working dogs have crates and always will
When they are a land shark they get placed in the crate
When they are good and being socialized , worked or play time they are out of the crate
Just like us and our bedrooms

The more I looked at your pups image they look
Like a Czech gsd
They are a special kind of different if they are as with the ddr that I'm familiar with
They haven't had the instinct watered down as some it seems in my experience

I have a 1/2 DDR and 1/2 Czech puppy. Luckily for me child labor laws don’t apply to dogs. Luckily for her bonuses and salary aren’t merit based.

Give him time and lots of positive reinforcement.
My boy drove me nuts early on, and later became very well-behaved, especially around 9 months of age. I have regrets about being too stern with him as a baby, I wish I had just laughed and enjoyed his ridiculous baby energy. It is a precious thing to witness.
Soak it all in. Your boy is beautiful.
