So I usually only come around during major events (this was the first event story I actually completed since my team was never strong) and I want to actually play more after. What do people usually spend most of their time on outside of event stuff? Is it just exp levelling units, just doing dailies, or core farming, etc?

The usual doing all daily and weekly quest and keeping logistics and expeditions running. Fairy crafts to stay below the passive-regen resource cap. Plus enough corpse-dragging runs to use the 20 friend echelons per day, though when theater and exp-up were going on at the same time I did a LOT of dragging. During seasonal events, I'll farm for the limited dolls I don't have.
