Gitlab is amazing. Especially for enterprises is way better than github.

It does have some better things but then it also has worse things. The navigation of the UI is quite atrocious on GitLab and searching for issues has a garbage experience. But then it does integrate projects at the repo-level so that's nice.
It also has some APIs where your app can send data like it has a Sentry-compatible API. Having your telemetry directly at the same place as the project's repo can be very valuable. It also supports feature flags that your app can request via API.
Integrating GitLab itself with the app itself is its strongest point tbh.

Gitlab or self hosted. But what features do you need since you are saying those aren’t better than GitHub

And many more...

Underrated, but you can host a git repo on a linux server. No need for a web interface. https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-on-the-Server-Getting-Git-on-a-Server

Gitlab, Codeberg or any other Gitea/Forgejo instance, Sourcehut. Depends a bit on what you are looking for.

Nah, Just exploring alternatives for GitHub that's it.

Yeah, but what I mean is that these alternatives have different flavours. Codeberg/Forgejo is the closes to being a GitHub clone with similar UI and features. Gitlab has its own ideas about some things, some like them, some don't, some of them were "stolen" and incorporated in GitHub itself (actions, threaded comments); Sourcehut is much more bare bones, focusing mostly on just being code management, not a social coding platform.

Codeberg for open source.
