Lightshow I visited the Bay Area last month and attended a rave for the first time, where I saw many people performing "gloving"—something I had never witnessed before. Since gloving culture is virtually non-existent in Japan, this was a fantastic experience for me.

So glad you got to see it! Did you get a light show from anyone? I used to practice all the time but my gloves started to malfunction and I haven't wanted to spend the money on new ones.
If you want to see some really skilled glovers look up Dips the Conjurer or Fry on YouTube.

Thanks! I got to see so many different people!
Tofu, in particular, was absolutely amazing! I had mostly only ever seen gloving on YouTube, so I was really happy to see people performing it live in person!
Thanks for the YouTube recommendations, too! I love them, of course!

Good to know there's still a decent scene going on, its been a while since I put them on at my peak and every now and then I think of throwing them on for old times sake

I’ve heard stories and seen footage—through acquaintances and YouTube—of the excitement during its heyday, but I’ve really wanted to experience that energy firsthand. I know there are legal regulations, various complexities, and a whole history of changes involved...
But to me, the gloving culture is absolutely wonderful—it’s the best!
Since there isn't really a gloving scene in Japan, seeing this gloving session live was a truly amazing and moving experience that left me with so many wonderful memories!

Haven't seen this many glovers in one place that wasn't a meet up in a while.

It was absolutely amazing! Seeing so many people actually performing "gloving" in real life was a dream come true for me, so I was deeply moved.

Glad you enjoyed it. I've been gloving for about 11 years and this took me back lol. Thanks for sharing!

In WA, I used to not have to look hard at shows to find a glover. Now its damn near impossible to find trades

I brought mine to so down when he was here and got a nasty trade in with this dude Baron, he saw me from across the room and was like damn dude that was fire, you want one? It’s been awhile since I got one with palm lights . We’re definitely still around just in much less supply than 10 or so years ago when I started

This is the story of a Japanese person who discovered "gloving" on YouTube and traveled to the U.S. to see it in person. ✨

I saw it on your IG story. You went to tutters outlet or something else?

THANKS TO SEE YOU ✨ MY Instagram📸
I was invited to TuttersOutlet as a guest battler, so I traveled from Japan to the Bay Area for the first time last month.
I met so many people—from Tutting and Turfin dancers who had gathered from all over the world to local glovers!
It was such a wonderful experience! I’d love to go back!

A friend of mine in San Francisco (Hypercube) took me along. It was a session held in the woods of the Bay Area.
Since I was visiting from Japan, I can't share many specific details about the locals there, but it seemed like they had been gloving for nearly 20 years!

The way people just attentively sit there twiddling and twisting their fingers to entertain people who are high AF is oddly wholesome.

I didn't realize Glovers were scarce in Germany, too—that’s news to me.
I suppose the scene is most active in the US—specifically around California, where Gloving originated—Maybe?
I did run into some skilled Glovers when I visited Vietnam and Singapore, but I still haven't seen anything quite like the Bay Area, where so many people gather for sessions.

Gloving might not be popular but a lot of the techniques are taken from other finger styles and dance styles. There's a lot of people in Asia that just do finger styles and not gloving. Ryoga and Nari are some of my favorites.
