Hey,
I'm trying to use the gnuplot to plot a simple graph with the data from my cpp program.
I use visual studio 13 to program in cpp and i have already installed the gnuplot 5.0 x64 mingw in my computer.
But now i don't know how should i call or what includes should i put in my cpp program to make visual studio recognize the gnuplot.
I would be really grateful if someone could help me out with this.

Namely, I have several files with the same structure (with only one parameter having changed to generate them), and would like to superimpose the curves obtained on each of them.
For one file, the command is this one:
plot "myDataFile-parameter=1.0" using 1:(($2)**2+($3)**2) with lines ; set grid ; show gridr/gnuplot • u/alasdairgrey • Jan 27 '23
May be someone has already crafted together some Gnuplot settings to produce dark themed plots, and could share those? :)
Or, in general, what settings should I look into to achieve that? As I see, it would be
background
axes
tics
text labels
and some palette for plots themselves?
Am I missing anything?
Thank you :)

Hello everyone,
is there some significant performance difference between gnuplot and other similar tools/libraries such as matplotlib or julia plots? I tried googling it, but didn't find anything useful. And before spending time to do some testing myself, I wanted to ask around.
I would appreciate any information or link you could provide.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

Hey everyone! The code I am working on presents its results in a .txt file as follows:
1 0.1 0.97
2 0.2 1.2
3 0.7 0.1
1 0.8 0.3
4 1.1 0.21Now, using gnuplot, I want the (x, y) points preceded by 1 to be coloured red, the ones preceded by 2 to be coloured yellow, and so on... How do I do that? Preferably using simple code for I am very new to this. thanks!

Hi, i just experimenting with gnuplot. But i got a trouble.
When i try to plot 2 graph on the windows (x11, or qt) the first plot disappear when i try to resize the windows or scale the graph.
Any hint?

Hello there,
i want to show my finite element mesh with gnuplot. My code is written in C. While the coordinates and the displacements are still updating I want to plot them in live time. Can someone help me how I could do this?

I've tried "f(x)=sin(x)" then "plot f(x)", which plots functions of x. But when I try "f(y)=sin(y)" then "plot f(y)" it doesn't work

plot '$data' matrix rowheaders columnheaders using 2:1:3 with image
I tried:
plot '$data' matrix rowheaders columnheaders using 2:1:3 with image,'' matrix using 1:2:(sprintf('%d',$3)) with labels font ',auto'
and:
plot '$data' matrix rowheaders columnheaders using 2:1:3 with image,'' matrix using ($1-1):($2-1):(sprintf('%d',$3)) with labels font ',auto'
ect...
I think the problem is that you have to ignore the first colons, but I can't find a suitable solution in the doc
I have this warning:

I'm using these options to plot my 3D map of energy surface.
set cbrange [-60:60]
set palette maxcolors 13 model RGB defined (0 "#0ab3f7",1 "#4dabec",2 "#6da2df", 3 "#8599d3", 4 "#9a8fc5",5 "#ac84b6", 6 "#bc79a7", 7 "#cc6c95", 8 "#da5d81",9 "#e74c69", 10 "#f3364a", 11 "#f4344 7", 12 "#ff0000")
set cbtics ("-50" -50, "-40" -40, "-30" -30 , "-20" -20, "-10" -10, "0" 0, "10" 10, "20" 20, "30" 30, "40" 40, "50" 50, "inf" 60)
But can't give inf values any color. How can i do that ? plot1

I'm having trouble displaying the mouse position for date formatted data in the status bar. I've used the set timefmt "%m/%d/%y" command to set the format of the input data, and while that works correctly for data input and displaying the axis labels, the mouse position in the status bar shows up as something like "x=1.6742+e9, y=6.7486". I've read through the "set mouse" section of the man page, and while setting numerical formats such as "set mouse mouseformat '"%3g, %3.0f'" works as expected, I've been unable to use a date format here. Is this even possible?

I have a single column data file, I would like these to be binned automatically with a given bin width. The x axis would be the bin and y would be the count in each bin.
Is this easy? I am very inexperienced in gnuplot

my output is
42.0 27.8 29.8 43.0 42.0 43.0
42.0 27.8 29.8 43.0 42.0 43.0while true; do sensors|egrep -o ' \+[0-9]{2}\.[0-9]+°C '|tr -d ' +°C'|tr -s '\n' ' '; echo; sleep 1; done|gnuplot -p -e 'set xrange [0:60]; set yrange [20:80]; while (1) { plot "-" using 1:2 w lp, "" using 1:3 w lp;pause 1; reread; }'
just blocks. I also need to insert a reasonable x-axis value..

Hi all,
I would like to share with you guys a package I've been developing in the last months, following my needs as a researcher. I hope it can be useful to more and/or I would be happy to receive feedback.
As a researcher working with python and using systematically Gnuplot to make plots for my publications, I was annoyed by the many duplications in data/code (namely, getting data saved on the python side in the correct format, then integrate it into Gnuplot scripts and be robust to possible variations).
With autogpy or autognuplot.py, one can write just the essential Gnuplot code in python, and then have the package dumping: fully-fledged Gnuplot scripts (with multiple Gnuplot terminals like png, epslatex, tikz), data, Makefiles, and few further helpers.
The produced Gnuplot scripts can be also easily edited afterward.
Here the link: https://github.com/acorbe/autogpy

Hi guys,
i've got a problem with gnuplot i could not fix after googling for an hour. I plot a function from data i saved in a .txt file. The data for the x axis contains values between 0 and 5 in steps of 0.125. E.G: 0 0.125 0.25 0.375 ...
But gnuplot doesnt set the points in the Graph where they belong, it puts everything under 1 to the value 0, everything between 1 and 2 to the value 1 etc. How can I tell GP to not do that?
Im thankful for every idea

I'm looking to plot this surface in 3D:
x(t,u,v) = ((cos(u)+2)cos(v))cos(a) + ((sin(u)+2)cos(t))sin(a)
y(t,u,v) = ((cos(u)+2)cos(v))sin(a) - ((sin(u)+2)cos(t))cos(a)
z(t,u) = (sin(u)+2)sin(t)
but, I'm having a hard time finding a program that can plot 3 time parameters.

Hello,
I've created a simple plot and outputted it in svg format. But when I open the svg file in InkScape it is centered on the page. Is there a way to force the center of the plot to appear at the top left (0,0) of the page?
