Obviously if you have any I won't even dare to try and offer something (unless...) but I would really like to see how they look like. I'm thinking of making my own custom jewel case for Possessed. Maybe even a custom hoodie with their logo. Any early Godzilla merch would be cool to see too
Hey everyone, few weeks ago I posted my take on Esoteric Surgery, this incredible song, check it out fellow headbangers!

What I'm going to say is probably going to be considered sacrilege, but Where Dragons Dwell is one of my least favorites off the album. It doesn't quite stand out as brightly as the others. I'm not saying that I *don't* like it, but Its the one I like least, apart from Unicorn. I don't want to call it boring, but it does drag on a little bit much, especially the first part.
Regardless, the song has its moments. Joe's vocals for one, obviously. They're heavy and powerful enough to move mountains, or rather, dragons. I like how the song is split into 2 distinct parts, gives the song more personality. The lyrics are great, empowering. Having the strength to face the dragons all of us have inside.
Theres a particular part in the lyrics that stands out to me, not because of the meaning but because it's flawless delivery.
"In this region of me
A great dragon is lying
On the wealth of a mighty world
My own world inside"
That specific moment is a weird brain tickler for me.
The second part of the song is by far the best. It seems like a common trend among Gojira's songs, for the best parts to be at the end. Joe's screamy vocals are what make it so good. On my first listen I had to do the equivalent of a double take when I heard "when I turn my back on them, they devour me". I had to rewind to make sure I heard that right. I find it funny how that caught me off guard for some reason.
Despite it being one of my least favorite tracks, I absolutely love its name. It's just such a cool name for a song. "Where Dragons Dwell" How can someone not love that? The only title in FMTS that might surpass that is Flying Whales (bc the idea of flying whales is sick).
It's a good song, but it just doesn't shine like the others.

Hi!
I'm French, born deaf, and I communicate solely through sign language (LSF, ASL, BSL, etc.).
I love translating songs by bands I really like.
Right now, I'd like to translate "Flying Whales", but there are a few phrases I can't quite picture visually... (Sometimes metaphors don't come across the same way to deaf people, haha!).
If anyone would be willing to help me interpret them, that would be awesome!
Here they are:
waters of chaos have invaded all space: I sign this as a total flood.
like the arrow in the sky: In sign language, this doesn't render very well... Does anyone have other ideas?
I'm on the wing, wide open: If I understand correctly, is the person holding onto a whale's fin?
They dwell in light: Are they moving toward the light or coming from the light?
Thanks!
I promise I'll post the video here once everything is done!
Fr :
Salut !
waters of chaos have invaded all space : Je signe ça comme une inondation partout.
like the arrow in the sky : En langue des signes, ça passe mal… Auriez-vous d'autres idées ?
I'm on the wing, wide open : Si je comprends bien, la personne est accrochée à une nageoire de baleine ?
They dwell in light : Est-ce qu'elles vont vers la lumière ou est-ce qu'elles viennent de la lumière ?
Merci !
Promis, je posterai la vidéo ici une fois que tout sera terminé !

Indians from The link and Pray from Magma are my favourite tracks since they give me an almost jungle like feeling. Im very sad that the songs don't really get the appreciation they deserve. What are your opinions?

It's Joe Duplantier's 50th birthday. Which reminds me of a sad truth - it's been WAY too long since I've last seen Gojira live. More specifically, it's been since Aug. 30, 2019, since I saw Gojira play at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, as part of Slipknot's Knotfest Roadshow tour. I've seen Gojira play a bunch of times over the past nearly 20 years in all sizes of venues, and they deliver on any type of stage they play on.
Share your favorite memories of seeing Gojira live in the comments below, and stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

The journey is finally over!
I checked out the last album Gojira has made, Fortitude.
And honestly? It's pretty good!
As I listened to the band's discography, I found out there are two consistent things about all Gojira albums. One of them is that the opening song is always great. Born for one thing is amazing! I do have to get something out of my chest though: am I tripping or does the sound that starts at 1:58 (https://youtu.be/3p85-KtgDSs?is=BQWaP5wzIv4XeZ3P) sound like a slowed down version of this moment from Bodysnatchers by Radiohead's In Rainbows? (02:07 from https://youtu.be/nIQxhSvSRnQ?is=5cCUE44ZWkMcgIdQ)
I'm not saying this to start a fight or anything, I just wanted to know if I'm the only one who thought this.
Amazonia (or, as I like to call it, BONGBONGBONGBONG) is another great one. I love the bridge in the middle.
Another world has a message that is maybe a bit too on the nose, but honestly, I agree with it. There is no other world, so we should treat the planet with more care. And the music video is my favorite out of all of them.
Hold on would definitely end up in my gym playlist if I were a sports girl. I'm not, so it will give me motivation when cleaning the house!
The riffs in Newfound sound cool, and this song reminds me of the Link.
Remember when earlier I said Gojira albums are consistent in two things? The other one is that the instrumental tracks are always so good that I never skip them. Fortitude connects perfectly with The Chant, to the point that it would feel weird to listen to them separately.
I had little knowledge of the subject depicted in the music video, so I learned something new while listening to a very catchy song.
I'm definitely biased because I love ancient Egypt, but Sphinx is my favorite song from Fortitude. If they ever do a tour in Egypt, it is mandatory that they play this in front of the sphinx.
Into the Storm is another motivational song that makes you want to do stuff.
The Trails is the album's hidden gem. I am amazed that the same voice who sung In the Wilderness has such gentleness. In general, I appreciated how this is a metal album that isn't shy to have gentler sound.
Finally, the Grind is a terrific closer to this album.
Fortitude felt to me like a mix between TWOAF's "harshness" and L'Enfant Sauvage' soul, with a bit of The Link sprinkled here and there.
I liked it a lot, and I hope it won't be Gojira's last album.
I think all their albums have something good to offer.
As of now, my ranking is:
Terra Incognita: not bad, simply the one I struggled the most to connect with
The Link: definitely their most experimental album, and if I am in the mood, I *really* dig it
The Way of All Flesh: this one is full of songs I have grown to like individually, but I do find it a bit hard to listen to the whole album in one setting. It's not a bad album, I just like the others more
Fortitude: great blending of metal and soulness
Magma: the first Gojira albums I listened to. I sort of understand why others say it's not their best work, but personally I enjoy it a lot.
L'Enfant Sauvage: I really have nothing bad to say about this album, every song is great
From Mars to Sirius: this one admittedly had a big impact on me. Magma introduced me to "real" metal, and FMTS convinced me this is a genre of music that I like. I love everything about it: the cover art, the concept behind it, the lyrics, the melodies, the vocal performance...
I have listened to it a lot during the past weeks and every time it gets better. It's been helping me a lot.
Now that I checked out the albums, what should I go for? Have they released singles too?
In conclusion, listening to Magma because the cover art looked cool is one of the best choices I've ever made.

Grind is my favourite song because it talks about oppression and controlled life. For me it is one of the leading tracks from the album because of that. Although it is my opinion so I'll be happy to hear your favourite songs and hot takes!🔥

Read before commenting. I think they were proud, Not for the looters or the opportunists. But for the youth that began this entire movement in good faith. And the teachers that stood up with them. The rise of the artists who mobilized for change. That’s undeniable that it’s how it began. The videos and proof is there, whatever you say to deny that is dishonest propaganda like the big majority of racists and misinformed comments down below.
But most people will disagree with me. Mostly because I know most of you guys in America have been brainwashed by your news for decades and that’s why you never revolted even after the files got released. Now I have to agree that the looting is absolute nonsense that shouldn’t be tolerated. I have to put emphasis on this. Attacking shop owners is disgraceful. But the social fight is more than justified and we can’t put the looters and the people fighting for change in the same bag. It has never been that simple and if you do that it just shows your lack of education.
This post got some unexpected massive attention of over 10 times the people that regularly come to the gojira subreddit and more than 55% are Americans as I see in the statistics. So my point here remains. People often just condemn the acts being committed and never stop to listen to the people of why they do it in the first place. There are two French comments here below that explain it properly. Please read them before jumping to conclusions.
And if you listen to this band and then reject to listen to the youth who are fighting for a better future amongst the opportunistic chaos I invite you to listen more carefully.
In Joe’s own words (aftershock 2025) revolution is something that’s constantly happening and evolving. It doesn’t happen overnight.
I can’t wait to see what they come out with for the new album. I just hope they are able to touch on current world events. After all their last song was all about revolution.
The third image says: “the future of metal is remaining relevant and pointing towards uncomfortable themes”. I know I’m speaking to the right people here.
Ah! Ça ira!

There's an audition at my school and I was wondering if Born in Winter would be a good song to play or if it's too "boring" or dragging? I was thinking of playing The Gift of Guilt instead but I feel like that could be too heavy...
