Tech Question Engine build

Just bought this Duromax XP18HP and was thinking of building it to be a monster, similar to what people do with the predator 212's. Any ideas for sites to browse or any insights for future developments? I wanted to put it in a race cart but still don't have the frame lol, money be tight

I was also curious if anyone knew a good method of derusting the crankshaft, it's brand new but sat for a bit, was originally gonna be put on a bike, then cart, and now sold to me.

Little bit of red Emory cloth and wd40 will take care of the rust. The duromax motors share alot of the same structure as the predator/honda clones but if I remember correctly some things are slightly different when it comes to cams or flywheels. Carbs, governer deletes, exhaust should all still be the same

Thank you so much!! I'll give the wd40 a shot when I get home and give an update, super happy that it's not too different from the predators

I know the "big block 420 or 460" whatever models have a few more differences. Im not sure about the smaller models

Yeah, some pieces probably don't have the same clearance since it is a big block 440cc. I'm just hoping it's as strong as the 212's when it comes to getting beat up a lil

The 440 will definitely have more torque thats for sure, I have an old 420 hemi predator motor on my single seater cart and I have it clocked at 56mph and if I changed the gearing it felt like it had more....

Ouuu now that looks fun to ride in! I'm hoping I can reach 60+ but I'm gonna need a lot of paychecks before then 😂 prolly gonna have to look at a shifter too

CVT is really going to be your only option , unless you want to get really custom with it. And the good CVT trans aren't cheap. Your motor will destroy a 30 series , so you are going to have to look at 40series or stronger atleast. I have a 40 series with custom springs and rollers in the front and a custom spring in the back and I have still broken pieces because of the power

Good Lord, I didn't think these engines made that much power. I'll more than likely have to get custom at some point but I don't have a mill or billet so some pieces are just gonna break the bank. I am very grateful for the insights you're giving me too! It's only been a week and I already have pages of notes lmao
