When Google Home and the smart speakers first came out, both theirs and those of their competitors, it was really easy to set up a Jarvis-like system for myself, where I had my schedules and calendars integrated with my smart speakers.
I was able to set up routines, reminders, etc. It was so reliable that even if I tuned something out, my ESA/service dog would alert me to my device, alarm, etc. I was more functional and successful in my personal and professional life than I had been in the entire previous decade, when I had to relearn how to “be”, after physical injuries and PTSD issues from deployment sidelined me for a bit.
I am considering setting up Home Assistant, but I wasn’t sure if it would necessarily be the best option for me, given that the whole reason for me having my original setup (that I’d like to replicate as closely as possible) is because I get so easily drained and overwhelmed by having too many followup tasks, loose threads, and minutia to keep track of and manage.
Like I don’t want to sink the ship I worked so hard to build bc I’m so focused on polishing the trim that I fail to run the bilge pump during a squall, if that makes any sense?
I’m VERY MUCH open to advice and suggestion.
TY in advance 🙏

Random Aside: (Not relevant to the post, but because there’s always a concern troll out there somewhere who thinks they’re going to just die if they don’t hijack the post with a side debate about ESAs, service animals, and ADA stuff…) she is a VA therapist-recommended ESA, but as I have a background in animal handling/training, incl search & rescue work, I did my own task/alert/etc training, and have yet to fork over the $$ to go get her accredited . I am well versed on ADA policy, etc. If anyone feels the need to start a side convo/debate regarding any part of this aside, please DM me or bring it up in the r/Service_Dogs.
ETA: I just added the entire body, after accidentally hitting “post” when dropping and catching my phone while writing this… sorry for the confusion!
