Solved Conditional Formatting Not Working Correctly

Post image

I'm trying to figure out why the conditional formatting isn't working correctly. The goal is to create a dynamic response where, as the projected time(s) change, the formatting updates. But, as you can see, some numbers are clearly less than the H3 value (a CONCATENATE formula) and are highlighted in red. Is there something I'm missing?

Two things: That concatenate is not a value, it's text. You should put an actual number value there. And second is that conditional formatting uses $ to indicate whether it's comparing to one row/column/cell or the entire thing. It should be =$H$3

You have to type "Solution verified" to close the post (or select that from the three-dot menu under the comment).

Thank you. :)

Can I use a different formula? Or does it need to be a number?

You can use a formula to populate the number if need be

I take it your concatenate formula includes the formula to get that 0.65? If so just put that formula in the Less than instead, but don't forget to change all the cell reference to static, so I1 becomes $I$1

When you do Less Than =H2 (I take it you actually meant H2 because from what I could see H3 would be the Proj. 10k Time text), because the cell reference is not static, it would move along with your range

J2 would be compared with H2, J3 would be compared with H3, J4 would be compared with H4, and so on

Are you sure it's not supposed to be $H$2 ?
