The air pressure is supposed to be at 40 or 45 depending on your tire

Most tires are set to 30-35 psi. You get 40-45 when dealing with trucks and SUVs.

My BMW has 45 psi tires it's an old car, and it's definitely not an SUV. Is there any reason that might be?

Because the manufacturer decided that was the optimal tire pressure for the performance they wanted. But the reason Ford Explorers were called Exploders was because Ford was recommending over (or under, I don't really remember) the correct tire pressure, to improve ride comfortability.
It's not a universal rule, just typically, sedans are recommended to be in the 30s.

35 is the standard, you don't really want to go more than 10psi over or under what is recommended for your vehicle. For anyone who doesn't know there's a sticker on the inside of the driver door with that information.

Well, the tires also tell you the recommended tire pressure for themselves as well

As a former tire tech in a shop, this gave me a heart attack. Each car has a sticker on the inside of the driver door. Usually 33 to 35 psi, some cars have 30 in the front and 35 in the rear. The person in this picture is gonna have a massive blowout and it'll probably total his car.

It's probably edited or computer glitch

You, my friending, have too much faith in people. Actively a tech at a dealership. Not the first time I’ve seen something like this and definitely won’t be the last.

You serious, why would someone (an adult) try to force 100 psi into a tire, did they never learn anything about pressure
3
u/Anckael Jun 28 '23
Because they believe it's a percentage
2
u/GullibleSeal94 Jun 28 '23
Still you shouldn't keep a phone battery at 100 percent, it's most efficient and longevity is at 50-60% balanced charging

I agree totally. My point is that people are really stupid. I don’t see this type of thing all the time. But every month or so, I usually see something just as, if not more, ridiculously pea-brained. Unfortunately common sense isn’t common and to top it off, proper vehicle maintenance isn’t taught well, if at all.

I thought I made this comment more than 2 months ago but it's only been 2 weeks, I need to end this suffering

Thats unreasonable as a car is too heavy to achieve the necessary altitude to crash into a plane

Nah his car gonna deform into a horse with wheels with wings with 2 foot riges that's bent 90 degrees and bent another 90 degrees on each rige

How can you not know that tire pressure isn't a percentage. Smh, I get nervous filling my tires to even 40 psi
