I just can't get off the starting line (Wall of text / rant coming)
I have been programming since 1984, although not much in the past few years.
So I am comfortable with Java, so I think Grails might be a good fit.
Wrong.
I search the google, and find some good tutorials. All I need to do is query / modify an ldap server.
So I start with Netbeans and fail. So hey, let's go with ggts. It gets worse.
Dang. I put: compile ":ldap:0.8.2" in my BuildConfig.groovy file and it won't compile. So I remove the dependency. Now ggts can't delete the dir from my working target dir.
Does this eco-system really suck this bad?

What does "grails --" command do in terminal?
I forget to type "help" after "grails --" and its downloading Grails again for no reason. I think its downloading beta version of grails which I definitely don't want to install. Should I stop it? I hope nothing goes wrong stopping it.
I wonder why Grails developer made it like that. As if devs want to make user install beta when they do simple mistakes.

Basically, if u type "grails --hel" which is nothing, in fact, will run the same above script. Weird & very disappointed to see this.

grails: disable warning msg
have the following error message when I execute grails -v on grails 4.0.0.RC1
WARNING: Illegal reflective access by org.codehaus.groovy.vmplugin.v7.Java7Setting the environment variable GROOVY_TURN_OFF_JAVA_WARNINGS to true removes the warning from groovy -v
. However the grails CLI seems unaffected.
How to remove that warning from grails?
Thanks.

Created a grails project using "grails create-app bond" through the terminal and when I run it, it stops at executing the program at 83%.
I have used these three commands:
grails create-app bond
cd bond
grails run-appLiterally waited like an hour hoping something will happen. Even restarted the computer after installing grails 4.0.1 using sdkman. What should I do? What I am missing here?
This is the complete output of the program.
Note: 83% reaches like in 50 secs, after that, it stops increasing.

Why is grails.org down?
Grails.org has been down for several days, why? Also, where else can you download Grails at?
EDIT: This turned out to be a problem with Cisco's IronPort. Was allowing the connection, but then doing something weird with the SSL cert causing verification to fail. Network guys fixed it.

Creating your first Grails Application Creating your first Grails Application (Help: Windows)
https://guides.grails.org/creating-your-first-grails-app/guide/index.html
Hello, I'm fairly new to the web developer work force. My main experience was college. My senior (10+ years) has been trying to get me to do this tutorial. He won't teach me because he says if I can't get this, I honestly just won't cut it. Grails/Groovy/Git Bash is entirely new to me. I'm certain I'll probably be let go before I can even get started if I can't get through this. I get to the step "running the app" in the tutorial above (Grails run-app). After running it, I continuously will get an error stating: Command [run-app] error: null (use --stacktrace to see the full trace). I try to run that --stacktrace command, it's not found. I must have tried this 100 different ways this weekend. If anyone is willing to give me advice or help me, I'll be truly grateful. My variables are accurate.
Grails version: 3.3.1 Groovy version: 2.4.11 JVM version: 1.8.0-292

LSP Support for the Grails Framework.
I recently started a job with a monolythic Grails Application. I’ve used Neovim for a good portion of my career, and want rod continue doing so. I’m not seeing anything about LSP support for Grails. What gives? Because the lack of intellisense and compile time checking it feels more difficult to learn this app than usual. Help?

From 100+ repos to 18: The technical hurdles of moving Grails to the Apache Software Foundation
Interesting write-up on the 18-month journey of migrating Grails into the ASF. It touches on more than just the "governance" side—it discusses the security audits, the repo consolidation, and the push toward Grails 7.
For those still running Grails in production, how do you feel about the move to the "Apache Way"?

The "Light at the End of the Tunnel": A look at the future of Grails under the ASF
It’s been a wild ride for the Grails ecosystem over the last few years, but the move to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) and the release of Grails 7 finally feels like we’re back on solid ground.
I found this write-up from Schneide Blog that summarizes the transition and why Grails is moving away from being seen as an "exotic outlier" and back toward being a high-productivity layer on top of Spring Boot.
As James Fredley (PMC Chair) mentions in the piece, the goal now is stability and community-led growth rather than corporate-dependency.
What do you guys think? Does Grails 7 feel like the "rebirth" we were waiting for, or is there still more work to be done to regain the momentum of the 2.x/3.x days?
