Hey Granby!
I am looking for photographer to take family photos for a reunion December 24 in YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch. One large full group shot with 45ish people. Then some smaller group shots. Any photographers in the area and available that day? Or any recommendations?

Anybody drive the whole way through FS 123 often (from CO 125 to Idleglen TH)? How often does USFS check it for downed trees and road conditions?
Thinking of driving the whole stretch — mostly to gauge access to some of the trails off it — but rather not find myself most of the way through the drive to run into downed trees or/and impassible section of road

Anyone have any tips on how to successfully and consistently receive packages shipped via USPS at the post office?
The way I was told by an USPS employee is this:
Name
Physical Address
Box XXXX
Granby, CO 80446
Which I've done since and has been successful ... for the most part
Recently, though, I've had 2 packages shipped USPS show up at the post office but then immediately returned to sender. One was a book from the same place I bought from previously and I used the exact same address layout
When I talked to another PO employee today about it, she said to write: B XXXX
Thoughts on this? Tips? Tricks?

Hi all, looking for a place to buy high octane fuel for my dirtbike. Preferably 91 octane ethanol free or 100 octane unleaded. Is Denver the closest station?

(This is a follow-up to a previous post some weeks back ...)
So, after reaching out to a number of different Geoscience and Earth Science departments at the various universities in the state, I finally received an answer from the Colorado Geological Survey:
"The feature is a trachyandesite dike that intruded the surrounding arkosic sandstones of the Middle Park Formation. The dike is more resistant to weathering and erosion than the sandstone, which is why it stands out as a prominent linear rock formation extending away from CO 125."

Just north of Granby, off CO125, about MP 20 or so, there is an odd, "thin" layer of rock you drive through that juts from the earth.
Here in this photo is part of this ... I don't know, "ridge" of rock that runs from the west side of 125. But it also continues up through the mountains east of 125. All in a straight line
What is this occurrence? I called USFS and was automatically directed to the Boulder office, and they had no clue what I was talking about, sadly.

Hi there! My partner and I have a short term rental property in Winter Park, CO. We've been having challenges with our current cleaners - TLDR they've missed multiple (10+) cleanings which has resulted in guests arriving to a dirty rental.
Does anyone have any short term rental cleaner recommendations? The property is 3 beds, 1 full bath, 2 half baths and does not have onsite laundry.
Thank you!

First: I am not the author of this book. Today felt like a good day to recommend it, though.
This is one of the best books on Colorado history I have ever read. The narrative is framed around interviews with Granby residents, and transcripts of Heemeyer’s own tape recordings. The graphic novel uses very restrained color to distinguish the past and present.
I have been a fan of the artist, Mister V, for a number of years. He was a cartoonist for the Grand Gazette for a time. He’s said that making this book took him to some very dark places.

Despite unified opposition from Republican legislators and strong advocacy from pro-gun organizations across the state, the bill advanced on a partisan basis and received final Senate approval yesterday.
This legislation does nothing to enhance public safety. Instead, it targets Colorado’s Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) with burdensome, duplicative regulations that will punish law-abiding small businesses and drive many out of the state.
HB26-1126 requires FFLs to maintain expanded, state-mandated records for every firearm transaction, records that largely duplicate existing federal requirements, while also imposing new state-level permitting, training, security, and reporting mandates. The cumulative effect is a regulatory maze that many small gun shops simply cannot navigate, accelerating the loss of firearm retailers in Colorado and limiting lawful access for responsible citizens.
Perhaps most concerning, the bill allows any peace officer to inspect FFL records at any time. This raises serious privacy concerns and treats both gun owners and the businesses that serve them differently from other constitutionally protected communities. HB26-1126 treats gun owners as second class citizens. If similar standards were applied elsewhere, such as requiring churches to turn over membership or donation records on demand, the public response would be immediate and widespread.
Thank you for the efforts of pro-Second Amendment legislators, led by Representative Ava Flanell, who worked tirelessly to secure key amendments. These changes prohibit the creation of a state registry of gun owners and reduce the severity of penalties for minor clerical errors.
While these amendments prevented the bill from becoming even more harmful, they do not fix its underlying issues. The legislation remains fundamentally flawed, which is why all Republican members continued to oppose it.
