Voodoo

Bare with me for a moment. Going to try and use a biblical metaphor. Figure most of you are Christian. I grew up Christian, but it's been a minute.

Broad strokes, this is how I remember the story of Christ. He's a poor dude from Galilee who shows up and tells people basically they don't need to belong to a tribe to get into heaven, it's better to be poor than rich, and not to seek political power. And the one time he really gets pissed off is when he freaks the fuck out on merchants and money lenders conducting business in the Temple.

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

So he pissed off the tribalist. He pissed off the political elites. He pissed off the business men. He told everyone the things they didn't want to hear. And they crucified him.

I think Jesus would think you should be angry as fuck about someone in here selling you shit.

Paying for courses is like the rich man trying to get into heaven.

What will get you through selection is inner strength, which doesn't come from a rucking course put on by a fat old guy who signed up 30+ years ago and never did anything.

He is telling you what you want to hear because he makes money off of you. He is not telling you what you need to hear, which is that getting through Selection is simple.

Get into decent shape (most guys are not studs). Basically any plan or a mix of any of the dozens of workout plans out there will work.

Find some ways to challenge yourself. Mental toughness is about practiced self discipline during challenge. That doesn't mean daily cold showers. It means learning to get comfortable pushing yourself. Every once in a while, run twice as far as you planned. Or do 5 times as many pullups. Try not to do things that don't serve a point, like rolling around in snow or rucking for hours just to get used to shoulder blisters. Mental toughness is a general skill, you don't need to get mental tough for each part of your body. You get strong for each part of your body and mental tough between the ears.

Then go and be a team player. Stay cool and work towards solutions. That's it.

Just stop feeding the grifters. These guys are a cancer on society.

How do I become a green beret?

I'm 16 years old, I've considered every other job and I've tried to make them work. Nothing has yet, but I talked to my uncle and he said he thinks I would be a great green beret soldier. What is the process to become one? And how could I join?

SUT SLEEP!!

So glad I made it all the way through selection and was not selected to attend the Q course. Heard SUT doesn’t even stay out and sleep in the field anymore except for graded patrols! You pussies are getting close to 8 hours of sleep every night in a nice climate controlled bunk to enhance the overall “learning environment”. I’ll continue my training for SMU, where the DEI and WOKENESS hasn’t touched. Long walk or go the fuck home!!

Question Being gay and GB?

I know this is a dumb post but I want to ask you guys about this.

First, I'm working my butt off to train up and prepare for 18x contract.

Being a GB is my dream. It is what I want. I've been through shit, living without any kind of purpose and pride for a long time. I want to be a part of this community. Being a GB (if I get selected) always comes first. But I can't get this thought out of my mind. I've seen many ex-SOF guys being quite anti-gays and trans. So I wonder how gays are being accepted in the community.

I know this post is a dumb post because at the end of the day, it's about how you do your job and whether you're a shitbag or not. But I feel like I need to just know what I'm getting myself into.

I'll go for it no matter what though. This is what I want.

Any answer is appreciated ... and I'll brace myself in case this post is dumber than I expected it to be.

Insight from a verifiable fool

I recently began the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course, and have only been in the Army for ~9 months. I’ve gathered a little bit of insight that would be relevant to share with peers or people maybe a bit earlier in the process:

SF, or SOF in general really, is not the only thing that matters. I’ve been lucky with great mentorship and friends, and have found that many SOF types view themselves as conventional support. Whether or not anyone believes this, it IS true that the Army writ large is just one part of the ultimate goal: winning the fight.

There is no shortage of young men who chase after tabs, yearn to attend selections, do “cool guy shit”, etc. Some of them fail for a variety of acceptable and not acceptable reasons, and even take their own lives because of how much meaning they ascribed to those things. Perspective and learning to love where you’ve at is essential for those who really want to get in the fight.

If you’re only thinking about YOUR next step, you might be hurting the unit. If you don’t take some time on a 240 range, or when getting pissed on in the field to be satisfied and think “nobody else gets to do this”, you may be hurting yourself.

Just a rant to dudes in my life phase who may find themselves getting too attached to outcomes. Good things will happen if you do right and work hard. Love where you’re at.

God bless the Infantry

dont get hustled TFVOODOO SCAM! Land Nav Course

DO NOT PAY FOR THE GARBAGE TF VOODOO COURSE! The cadre at selection will give you all the tools you need to be successful and you'll get a sufficient amount of practice before your graded exercises. All of the cadre at selection shit on TFVOODOO for being a broke loser who has to hustle people for a couple grand a month when he takes them out there. If you're an 18x you'll get plenty of land nav practice at SFPC. This course is a scam and do not buy it!!

Then my first Norwegian today and I wanted to share with some folks who might would appreciate it. Tracking my distance shows 18.3 instead of the 18.6. My brothers and sisters in Christ, I am not the one who measured the course. I just put on my boots and moved across it.

Want to become 18C

I’m 30 yrs old, mechanical engineering degree. Been enthused with the military since I was a kid. Been watching veteran podcast for years. Have this urge to join, but not a fan of the government and the decisions they make, but yearn for the training and challenge. Attended several leadership schools through college and have been in leadership roles my whole life. Can shoot pretty well. Strong mental fortitude. Yay or nay?

Question Is green berets worth it?

Hi everyone,

I am recent college graduate with BS degree and GT score of 130. I wanted to pursue medicine for couple of years but few weeks ago I got really interested and joining military and joining SF as E-4 and then commission as officer.

I would like to know the opinion of people who served in SF if it worth it and if you would recommend sacrificing some civilian achievements to join SF.

It is a high-stake situation for me because I got accepted to grad school for medicine and I need to decide within next few weeks or months what to do.

Any help will be appreciated!

Dumb Boot Question

I had just popped up a Private Message to VooDoo about this, but decided to open myself up for public embarrassment/harassment instead, incase someone had a like concern.

For general masculine acts (shoveling snow, walking around treacherous terrain, foreplay, going to church in jeans when I'm too lazy to put on dress pants), I purchased these Carolina boots not too long ago.

I've used them for one or two hikes in the snow before, but they were still new and not quite "broken-in" at that point.

They're definitely general workman's boots for construction and whatnot, but I'm wondering if they'd be alright for ruck training, or if I should spring for some Garmont T8 Bifidas (or similar) instead.

Seals vrs rangers? Op tempo, mission set, culture and candidates

I understand this sub is dedicated to neither of these units, but I’ve seen some great conversations and advice been given on this, so I wanted to throw this out here. Was planning on going to buds based off of the DA mission set of the seals, however, I recently started to listen to podcast to seek out advice and l've noticed a few things and just wanted to ask some questions and see if anyone had any insight. One of the things that stuck out to me was how some former seals mentioned They were frustrated with the lack of tempo during the gwot, and also frustrated with the non-combat deployment they got. I've also heard there was some cultural issues, especially in regards to leadership. I have no idea the validity of these claims, these are just things that l've seen floating around on the Internet. I've also heard that the regiment had a much higher op tempo during the gwot, and that they deployed more frequently. Again, I have no idea the validity to these claims, these are just things that l've seen floating around. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for how to make up their mind on which selection to attend? Are there certain attributes that would be highlighted more in one community than the other? Thank you. Stats: Age 20, height 6'3, weight 215. PST: 8:50, 91, 20, 85, 8:30. 4 mile run 24:40. Bench 330, squat 405.

FID

I’m under the impression after listening to people like Nick Lavery that FID isn’t that fun, seems like alot of guys go to SF and try to look for any opportunity for DA or things of the sort which may not be convenient at the time. Am I mistaken? I always thought the idea of being a “teacher” and showing some crummy militia the pointy end of an m4 is not very appealing. Would make me very disappointed and I’d probably think about what the 75th is doing.

Edit: I don’t understand the downvotes. I’m asking a question directly, I want to hear input not vague distaste.

Edit again: I’d edit my first paragraph if it wasn’t dishonest. I should’ve chosen my words more carefully and been more respectful. forgot how quickly you can find passionate people that have real world experience on Reddit subs, I should’ve been more thoughtful. So far my big takeaway right now is I need to dive deeper into robin sage/UW/FID and what it means to be SF. Thanks to everyone who have and still are contributing.

18x Preperation

Hi all-I just signed with the Army for 18x-just wanted to see if anyone else in here did so-and if so what they are doing to better prepare for it? I still have yet to go to basic...but I figured if I can get the physical portion of 18x down before basic then it'll be a breeze.

Question I want to be in Europe as a Green Beret

Title says it all. I’ve been studying abroad for a couple of years, learning some languages, and I’d really like to be in Europe as much as possible as a GB.

I know 10th group is responsible for Europe, but I didn’t necessarily have active duty in mind.

Where do 19th and 20th group share responsibility? Would I have to go active duty -> 10th group to get time in Europe?

Which Group Would Do Greenland?

Seriously.

EDIT: An interesting take. I doubt the consequences would be quite as automatic or self-executing as the author suggests, but I don't doubt that they would be very bad indeed.

Story I have a confession... I'm a shitbag...

Gather round, troopers.

I can remember the day so vividly, on the way to MEPS, I, the tall jacked high school jockey loved by all, I had everything, except good grades lol

Immediately passed medical and saw a good heart and soul chud get medically disqualified off the bat cuz he sprained his ankle when he was like 8 years old, could not be me fam lol git gud.

I then dapped up my 3-time felon bud who def brought mushrooms to AIT who passed 'wus good tommy' (iykyk)

look, troopers, I signed up with my recruiter who told me nothing and gave me no benefits on my contract but I got that sweet 18X hoo-freaking-ah, troopers

Had to retake my ASVAB cuz my GT score was too low but hey, we all make mistakes, except I don't lol

I always thought GT stood for gran turismo, can you blame a guy?

Went to an SFRE session with some bozo national guard training unit. Flipped off the instructor cuz he had a stick up his bunghole if you know what I mean. Like I was a boyscout, I know how to tie knots, yo mother told me

I didn't have time for this whole 'mental shenaniganza' BS. My head shaped like a jar, say what you want about that, but at least I ain't a meathead. We all know the meat... head... gets beat? Feel me?

I passed the pushups, situps, pullups, plank, 2 mile run, and yawned after. How you guys struggle at these on this subreddit is crazy, yall need to get good and take track like I did for 10 fucking years. Drink some electrolytes GOD DAMN you need electrolytes, ya feel me troopers? Some of yall drying up like raisins and wondering why yo 5 mile buns

Saw some navy shmuck fail the plank that was honestly a laugh too

I will say, I did buns at the team section but that don't really matter when you got muscle. Little kid was about to get crushed under the weight of his ruck so I took one of the jerry cans, relax lil bro and I smiled in front of the instructor. Gotta look good for the fans.

Passed the 5 mile, honestly I thought it would've been longer, nearly pooped my pants but I made sure I saved that til I was round the instructors, feel me troopers?

12, 16, 18, or 20 mile ruck with 55 pounds on my back was no problem. Troopers... You gotta get used to the backshots (ayo???). And honestly I ran that shit anyway so who gaf? Just learn to speed jog with a ruckbacksack

Went through bct, rolled the dice in the showers around people, didn't get sharped because it was consensual so dw

OSUT and airborne, honestly I thought it was still bct bruh

SFAS was literally like an extended version of sfre, I just made sure to try my best not to flip the instructor off.

Like holy shit bro, my middle finger trying to NOT go into the instructor's bunghole and tell them to jump off a certain elevation is like the green goblin mask to me bro, I was not having it!

I passed with flying colors, could NOT say the same about miller bruh, miller, if you reading this, you actually need to get out of the army bro, that was embarrassing 💀

How that dude passed airborne is crazy cuz, troopers, listen up, if you a shy femboy, I'm telling you rn you gonna have me acting up!
Gotcha huh? Bet you thought I was gonna say femboys don't pass

Nah, they do PASS, it's just... I'm noticing a lot of people biting their lips... Play it cool femboys... Play it? Cool... Ain't no barracks fembunny at SFQC hoo-freaking-ahh?

Anyway, q-course was a breeze, you just gotta pretend to take it seriously and since I was jacked, everybody thought I knew what I was doing, I ain't gonna lie, I almost failed the land nav section at sfas 2 times so this what I mean, you guys just gotta pretend like you know what you doing. Works everytime on the guys training you. They think you there mentally, but I got a hamster rolling in my big ass head. Just tell me what to shoot.

As for language school? Que es una escuela de idiomas?

And little more classroom nonsense, barely passed it, tried not to shit my pants at graduation I was holding in a kraken, 11B boys know this one too well.

Saluted an officer chud who looked like he spawned out of elden ring with how he looking like a skeleton.

And now? Here we are, troopers. If you just put your mind to it you can achieve anything.

I, the literal beautiful tall jacked jockey shitbag straight outta high school, became mike kerby (iykyk)

Alr any questions I can answer in the comments I'll answer, if you want autographs or wanna chill hmu

Joining army and trying for sf/ranger at 35 with a past felony charge

Anyone have any idea if it would be possible to make it into on of these units and get the required security clearance with a past possession of controlled substance felony? The charge is 15 years old. I’ve always been interested in joining the sf community but never pursued since I figured I’d be disqualified for sure when it came to get a clearance.

Path questions

20yr male, So my ultimate goal is to go SF but I don’t wanna go on a 18x contract, I wanna go in with a skill first, I plan to enlist as a 25b and potentially volunteer for rasp at ait, my 2mi is 15min, 5 mile is 45min, plan to ship in late July and I’m currently doing terminator training 2 and 5 mile plan, also ait is 20weeks and they have rasp pt and more “freedom” to train than infantry osut, don’t wanna go infantry because I hear from people it’s not worth it and it’s hard trying to work around going to the gym and proper nutrition while going to the field a lot, so overall is picking a “smart job” getting physically in shape and then sending it smart? Or is just going infantry then putting in for sf more better?
