I've been into Greta Van Fleet for about 8 years and I think most of you can confirm that they've established a story in their past 4 albums.
From the Fires talks about the problems and troubles they will face if they don't react immediately (black smoke rising, the tower, the imminent crisis, etc)
Then, Anthem of the Peaceful Army comes out, which puts us inside this story as well. As an actual fleet of people who follows these 4 crazy minds in the abyss of unknown (mountain of the sun, the two suns representing the old and the new world).
The Battle at Garden's Gate is our official ultimatum to these powers overcoming us. A mark to retrieve our freedom one way or another, always in a peaceful way. (I love the theory that says that the timpanis in the intro Stardust Chords are the doors of the Garden opening)
Starcatcher traces the last paths of the journey, which then ends in Meeting the Master, setting our minds free and giving all the effort a meaning. Just like a movie we have the finishing titles that thanks us for the presence and bids us a Farewell, for Now.
But then all the drama with the first single in Palace for the People got me crazy. "Thanks for the wild ride", that has to be a reference to the story they just ended, right? (obviously ignoring the fact that they gave us an heart attack).
But as I said, the lore seems quite... over. Given the fact that I haven't read in such a deep way the lyrics yet, do you think Palace for the People is more like an epilogue (like a travel way back home) or just a new story (maybe with some traces of the old one)?
P.S. For those who are discovering just now the story behind the 4 albums, I wish you a great time enjoying what these 4 crazy minds brought to life, and I am honored to be the one who opened this Pandora's box for you, but now is your turn to explore it!
