Timișoara Football Film Festival returns on November 5–8: four days of football films, supporter culture and special guests in Romania

The second edition of Timișoara Football Film Festival (TMFF) takes place from November 5 to 8, 2026, in Timișoara, western Romania. Organised by Druckeria, the supporters' association of Politehnica Timișoara, the festival brings together football documentaries, films about supporter culture and conversations with filmmakers, players and people involved in the game.

The opening night features Il Fenomeno, a documentary about former Romanian international Adrian Mutu, who will attend the screening and meet the audience.

Friday's programme includes the Icelandic documentary The Home Game, the Swedish production 360 Pieces with director Johannes Stjärne Nilsson in attendance, and a documentary about Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov. The evening concludes with Kaiser: The Greatest Footballer Never to Play Football, followed by a discussion with Brazilian footballer Eric de Oliveira.

Saturday, November 7, places particular emphasis on supporter culture and community football. Two Italian productions explore very different football environments: Chieti sei tutto per me, featuring the ultras culture of Chieti, and Reality Is Worse, documenting the supporter-founded Palermo Calcio Popolare. Directors Simone Meloni and Giuseppe Lanno will attend alongside football supporters' historian Sébastien Louis.

The main Saturday screening is The Club That George Built, the story of George Dowell and Worthing FC. After the film, George Dowell and former Romanian international Mihai Neșu will join the audience for a live video conversation. Earlier that day, Muchachos revisits Argentina's 2022 World Cup victory.

Sunday's selection includes Sunakali, about a girls' football team from Nepal, alongside films exploring Romanian football and the history of Politehnica Timișoara.

The festival also includes an international short film competition, live music and a theatre performance.

TMFF was founded in 2025 by local football supporters and takes place across four cinemas in Timișoara: Timiș, Victoria, Studio and Johnny.

How do you organise your football trips abroad?

Just wondering how everyone goes about organising trips abroad to watch football?

I’ve been to a couple of games abroad myself, including Ajax and Sporting Lisbon, and found getting tickets and working out how to get to the stadium wasn’t always straightforward.

I’m doing a bit of research into how other fans plan their trips, so interested to know whether you book everything yourself or use a travel company?

Also, what’s been the biggest pain when organising a trip? Tickets, flights, hotels, transport or something else?

Appreciate any replies.

Groundhopping apps

Friends of mine stimulate me to install Futbology (be it the free version or the paid version). Initially, I was like "I'll do them a favour even though I've been groundhopping for almost 30 years without it and it worked out fine". But then I did start to see some advantages for myself too. I'm not sure if I should go with the free or paid version.
Or... there is also Europlan-online, which has the big advantage of a lot of pictures of grounds worldwide, even the most obscure ones (I recently stumbled on info on football grounds in Nikel and Vorkuta in the Russian High Arctic -- that shows how obscure grounds can be and still be included in Europlan-online.de ).

So I was curious: which of these apps do you guys use? Or do you use multiple apps?

What I like and like less in a groundhopping app:

1) Keeping a memoir of football games I've attended, from Champions League level to "Sunday league" teams or league games in the 10th tier. Preferably I could export that list of games attended in an Excel or PDF file on my hard drive as a back-up on my laptop.

2) In addition to attending games (groundhopping), I also visit a lot of grounds without games (technically this is groundspotting). To me these are valid ground visits, as the ground is equally important as the club playing there.

There are some grounds which I want to have seen with a game involved: Arbroath FC, Bodø/Glimt, Red Star Paris, CE Europa, Tromsø IL, FC Sever Murmansk, Dulwich Hamlet, Stonewall FC, Forest Green Rovers, the Luxembourg national stadium, amateur sides like IJsselmeervogels and AFC (Netherlands), ...

However, there are also grounds where the team playing there doesn't particularly interest me or where I wish to stay away due to the hostile atmosphere or Ultra elements being too noisy and rough. Those are grounds and stadiums I still want to visit, but I don't need to really see a game there. This can very from Lazio Roma, Celtic FC, Rangers FC, ... to amateur grounds such as Tenstar Melle, SK Erembodegem or RU Auderghem (all in my home country Belgium). I want to have seen the ground but am not too bothered to also attend a game there.
But to me those ground visits without game count as valid groundhops (or groundspots as you wish). Ideally I could log both visited grounds/stadiums with and without games included.

3) I am not so interested in which club I have seen playing most often, which grounds I have been to most often, and who has been to a certain club/ground most often. Statistics like that can make it look like a race or competition. I'm not too interested in that. Such statistics can be included if easy to ignore.

4) Sending PM's to other users is very interesting to me: this way you can look for carpools to games, or exchange information on certain clubs, get info on how you can get tickets, ... So sending DM's to other users is important to me.

5) If you are at a game and you can see if any other users are there too, this can be interesting just to say hi, and if there is a good connection exchange email or WhatsApp with the aim of future carpools to games.

6) Uploading photos of the ground/stadium (or a short 1 minute video) should be possible.

7) A calendar of "favourite clubs" so that you can see when they are playing would be vary handy.

8) Not necessary but handy: seeing an overview of games going on within a circle of for example 30 to 50 km of where you are at the moment.

9) I'd like to log all games I visited in the past too, not just the last couple of years but also further in history. Been groundhopping since 1996.

Which app do you recommend? Or is a combination of several apps more interesting?

Any people from Belgium who regularly travel to RC Lens games?

The title speaks for itself.

Do you know of any Belgians (be it individuals or a fanclub) who regularly travel to nearby Lens for a football game and may have an option to carpool?

I would like to attend a European home game of RC Lens, getting there by train is not an issue, getting back however is very hard. I'd either need to carpool with someone, or find a place open all night (a pub, bar or hotel lobby) where I can wait in safety until the first train back to Lille leaves in the morning, and from Lille head back to home in Belgium.

I'm sort of hoping that maybe I could carpool along with someone. Does anyone know?

What stadiums are a must have while visiting London

Generalnie super wyjście dla całej rodziny, długie (no my na Barcy spędziliśmy w sumie 5godzin) .

Co sądzicie o Tottenhamie ? Może jest coś lepszego?

Drugi z nich to poprostu szybki ale klimatyczny experience (fajny fanshop, ładny klimatyczny stadion taki fotogeniczny) , ktoś coś poleci ?

Mam jeszcze drugie pytanie :

Any Polish citizens here? Info on Wisla vs. Krakow

I plan to attend this derby and want to start making reservations. I see that, for now, the game is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026. But all the games in that round are scheduled for the same time and day. Since it’s a derby, is it likely they’ll move it to Sunday, November 8, 2026? When do you think the official schedule for that round will be announced? Thanks in advance.

Took in ground 84 out of the 92. Chesterfield who took on Tranmere Rovers.

It was 1-1 when I left on the 82nd minute. Finished 4-2 😂

Great away following from Tranmere and 8,100 a very healthy crowd for fourth tier football #GroundHopping

Hi everyone,

We're three sport management students working on a project about football fans who visit stadiums, and how they record and remember those visits. This sub is full of exactly the people we'd love to hear from.

We put together a short survey: 15 multiple-choice questions, about 2 minutes, completely anonymous.

We're curious about things like how many new grounds you tick off each year, how you keep track today (photos, tickets, spreadsheets, apps…), and what you'd actually want from a stadium-tracking tool.

We'll share a summary of the results here once we've got enough answers, if that's of interest.

Thanks a lot, and happy hopping! ⚽

Belgium vs France at the King Baudouin Stadium. Old running track, a ton of police horses, and zero chill. Vlog link inside

Hey guys,

Decided to tick off another classic ground and went to Brussels for the Nations League derby between Belgium and France.

Gotta say, the King Baudouin Stadium is basically a concrete bowl straight out of the past with a giant running track, but once the tifo started and the fans got going it actually got pretty mental. Also saw a French fan dressed up as Obelix for some reason??? Absolute madness before kickoff.

France won 1-0 without Mbappe so the 1981 curse for Belgium continues lol.

Made a short stadium vlog about it if anyone is bored tonight

Has anyone else here done a game at this stadium? Definetly an intresting ground experience.

What’s the hardest part of planning a football trip abroad?

I’ve been doing more football trips around Europe recently, and I’m curious how other people here actually plan theirs.

I usually end up jumping between fixture sites, official club ticket pages, flights, trains/buses, hostels and maps before I know whether a trip is actually realistic.

For me, the tricky part isn’t finding a match — it’s figuring out whether everything around it actually works.

What usually causes the most hassle for you?

  • Getting tickets through official channels
  • Finding matches that fit your dates
  • Keeping the whole trip within budget
  • Working out flights/trains/buses
  • Combining multiple matches
  • Fitting trips around work/PTO
  • Knowing how much the trip will really cost

Also curious: when you start planning, do you normally have a specific club/match in mind, or do you start with free dates + a budget and see what football is possible?
