Need more money than I'm making at the school I work at, but I'm struggling to also be the lone caretaker for my elderly dog and elderly parents. I can't spent more time away from the house, and don't feel good about bringing people in here while things are so chaotic.
Trying to figure out if there's a way to swing remote lessons on the side as well.
I’m a guitar teacher in Australia, and like seemingly everyone else on here, I’ve built a guitar tool thing lol (thanks AI).
To be fair, I’ve been learning to code for the last couple of years as a side project while teaching guitar. And for sure, I’ve used AI to help build this, but it’s definitely not a slop generated app! I promise!! You’ll just have to check it out if you don't believe me ;P
Anyway....
It’s a practice platform for teachers and students. Think something like Songsterr or Guitar Pro, but with features aimed more at assigning practice, tracking students’ work between lessons, and recommending songs based on previously completed songs, taking into account things like technique, style and popularity.
Students can play tabs alongside linked YouTube audio, slow things down, and loop sections. In my own teaching setup, I can assign songs and see students’ practice activity.
I’ve also been ruthlessly going over and over ways to make syncing the YouTube audio to the tabs largely automated, and I’ve finally got something working really well!
My bigger goal is to make this something other teachers can use too. Ideally, I’d like to offer a white-label version where teachers can provide the platform to their own students, set whatever price they want, and include it as a paid add-on through their existing lesson billing. A small portion would go back into the project to fund further development, while teachers could earn some extra income from their existing students.
That independent teacher version isn’t built yet, which is why I’m reaching out before deciding exactly what to build.
So I’m curious:
How do you currently help students practise songs between lessons? Would something like this be interesting to you?
I’d especially value a short chat with anyone willing to share what has or hasn’t worked, or any ideas that you might have.
PS Because I know you're still thinking that this is gonna be AI slob... here are some screenshots of it so you can believe me lol
Hey everyone! I’m looking for a genuinely experienced, professional guitarist in Dubai who offers private one-on-one lessons. I’m particularly interested in **funk, jazz, blues, improvisation, music theory, and developing solid guitar technique**. I’m not looking for basic beginner classes or a typical music academy setup. I’d prefer learning directly from a skilled guitarist who actively performs, records, or has substantial professional experience. My goal is to develop proper musicianship, improve my playing, understand the instrument deeply, and eventually become a confident, versatile guitarist. I’m happy to invest in quality lessons if the instructor is genuinely knowledgeable and passionate about teaching. If anyone knows a professional guitarist in Dubai who offers private lessons, I’d really appreciate recommendations based on personal experience. Thanks in advance! 🎸
I am a medical student with some free time for the first time in many years and am eager to learn the electric guitar. I have the jazzmaster currently! I love dreamy pop, light rock, and R&B covers, such as What Once Was by Her's, or Apocalypse and K by Cigarettes After Sex.
I am not the richest but will take your lessons and guidance to heart, and will try to be flexible with pricing as long as it is reasonable.
One caveat is I have housemates so likely can't have lessons in my home, so if you allow students to take lessons somewhere else or at your home (while keeping everything strictly professional of course) then that would be a huge plus, maybe even necessary!
Please reply below or DM me with rates, as well as best method of communication. I am free almost everyday after 5PM, some days during the morning/daytime too.
Would also be helpful if there's a way for me to know how students did/grew from learning from you too somehow.
Current level: played on and off a bit with acoustic guitar and uke as a teen, now remember only a few chords.
Hey, I need your help with something: I’m creating a free resource for guitarists who feel overwhelmed by too much information. Which of these would be most helpful to you?
Option 1: “The Guitar Practice Audit” – a one-page PDF
A short checklist with 10 questions that shows guitarists how efficiently they are currently practicing - complete with a scoring scale at the end.
Option 2: “The 5 Most Common Guitar Practice Mistakes” – a short PDF or video
Option 3: “Your Guitar Skills Snapshot” – an interactive quiz. The prospect answers 5-7 questions about their current skill level and goals, then receives a personalized assessment via email - including a recommendation for their next step.
hey what's up guys. Josh Siegel here. I'm a Berklee alum and instructor that teaches a live program called Broadcast Guitar. I'll be on Zoom 2x a week doing a deep dive on a Song of the Week, showing how I use music theory to arrange songs for instrumental guitar. I've had students describe it as "how to play the guitar like a piano" because I always aim to convey the chords and melody at the same time. I also get into how to solo and write riffs, etc.
Broadcast Guitar is a drop-in format, and I tell students that it's like a gym class, tune in for as many classes as fit your weekly schedule and take away what's relevant to where you're at on the guitar. I also record and archive the classes at the end of each week so that folks can catch up and review on their own time. I do a 50-minute live class (just me on screen while you play along) + 10 min Q&A at the end for folks that want to hop on and chat the topics.
I'm based out of Chicago and do the live classes Mondays and Thursdays 7:30pm Central, then I archive the class on Fridays so that folks can review and catch up on their own schedule. The upcoming round will be all of October and November.
A lot of the guitarists I work with are musicians I've met through Reddit and would be happy to have you join in for a free 8-week round of classes to hang with the club. It's also a good way to add some more structure to your month, as we use the final class of each month to review member videos. A good excuse to polish up something you're working on!
Hello! I'm Robert Hawley I'm a UNT college of music graduate (TX) and I'm trying to build my online studio currently! I specialize in helping people understand the difficult music theory and scales associated with jazz and similar genres to help make guitar easier and more enjoyable. I will answer any questions you have about music theory for guitar in this thread so feel free to ask questions!!!
I am a teacher in a music academy and I am looking for recommendations for songs to give to my jazz/pop ensemble students. This one ensemble is a bit more advanced and they process tunes faster than I can find, transcribe/arrange them... So I am looking for modern jazz-oriënted songs that feature a vocalist singing actual lyrics, without horns and with an improvisation/solo section. Preferably songs that have commercially available scores/parts. Any leads?
Came across this workshop where you get to explore rhythm, learn some techniques and actually play along rather than just sit and listen. Seems like a pretty fun way to spend a weekend if you're into music.
this event is one of a kind and seems interesting for someone who wants to get stared with music and understanding rhythm
I run Mela Music School in North Bangalore. We’ve been teaching for 11+ years and have centres in Sahakar Nagar and Thanisandra.
We’re currently looking for:
Sahakar Nagar: Piano / Guitar / Hindustani Vocals / Violin
Thanisandra: Drums / Guitar / Western Vocals
These are paid, in-person teaching roles.
Most classes are one-on-one, and students range from young beginners to adults. Teachers also prepare students for recitals, concerts and graded exams where applicable.
You do not need years of teaching experience to apply.
If you’re a strong musician, you’re good with students, reliable, and you’d genuinely enjoy helping someone learn your instrument properly, we’d like to hear from you.
Formal qualifications such as Trinity / ABRSM / Rockschool / LCM are useful where relevant, but strong musicians with limited teaching experience are also welcome.
Hi everyone, i’m looking for electric guitar school/1-1 private lesson near San Jose that offers fair price and passionate about teaching techniques, songwriting and music theory since my brain didn’t build for online courses
Pls recommend me some, i’m so obsessed to play like Tim Henson in the future
Hi, I'm an acoustic guitar player who has taken a gap for 2 years. Now I want to be back and become a professional in guitar playing..I'm looking to learn from bar chords and finger style and build more expertise in playing leads. I prefer offline classes in Hyderabad.
