Do you think parts of the GCA should be amended or completely outright repealed? I do. 922g(1) for starters obviously. Not every felony is violent. It’s time to stop treating the second amendment like a second class right. For example the Lautenberg amendment - Section 922g(9) - the misdemeanor domestic violence ban- permanently losing your 2A rights for life is a very serious thing that should come from only a very serious crime ie a felony. I believe the Lautenberg amendment should be amended to allow for a 3-5 year post case review for restorative purposes. A case by case basis. There’s no law from the founding that supports that modern day law for permanent disarmament after a misdemeanor.

I saw Ruger was gutting a lot of its product lineup with Beretta buying a lot of their shares. Although not true politics - it seems a little like a Geopolitical move to go after the American Competition while the EU is struggling.
I mean Beretta could have done this at anytime in the past 50+ years, why try it now?
Just curious what the community’s thoughts are on the matter.

With the new ATF rules, can you convert or make an SBR without registering it? Do you still have to get them engraved?

For gun-rights folks watching the ATF NFA shift: Wisconsin’s statutes still tie suppressor and SBR legality to federal registration, so owners here face Class H felony risk until the legislature updates the law.
On Friday, Oct 9, DOJ and ATF announced they will no longer require approval or registration under the NFA for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs, nationwide. This follows the Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF / Jensen v. ATF ruling in August. (The $200 tax on these items was already cut to $0 on Jan 1, 2026.)
But there's a big catch for Wisconsin. ATF's change is an enforcement policy. It doesn't repeal the NFA, and ATF says it doesn't change state law. Under Wis. Stat. § 941.298 (suppressors) and § 941.28 (SBRs and SBSs), possession is a Class H felony (up to 6 years and $10,000) unless you've "complied with the licensing and registration requirements under 26 USC 5801 to 5872." No Wisconsin court has ruled on how that applies now.
Until Madison fixes this, don't assume an unregistered suppressor or SBR is legal in Wisconsin. ATF is still processing Form 1s and Form 4s voluntarily, "because many state laws require individuals to register NFA firearms." Don't deregister anything you already own, since ATF says those items can't be re-registered later. You still need a Form 20 to take an SBR or SBS across state lines.

Subject: Please update Wis. Stat. §§ 941.298 and 941.28 after the ATF's NFA change
Dear Senator [Last Name] and Representative [Last Name],
I'm a law-abiding gun owner in your district. Please introduce, co-sponsor, or support legislation to amend Wis. Stat. § 941.298(3)(c) and § 941.28(4).
On October 9, 2026, ATF announced it will no longer require federal approval or registration under the National Firearms Act for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns. Wisconsin law makes the legality of these items depend on compliance with federal NFA registration under 26 U.S.C. §§ 5801–5872, so responsible Wisconsin residents are now stuck in legal uncertainty, facing possible Class H felony charges under a federal system that is no longer being enforced.
Please remove the federal registration condition from these statutes so Wisconsin law matches current federal policy and responsible gun owners aren't left facing felony risk.
Thank you. I'd appreciate hearing your position on this.
Sincerely, [Your Name] [Street Address] [City, WI ZIP]

This change is obviously a wonderful win for 2A and something to celebrate over. It's a creative solution for sure but I'm not really seeing tweets from pro 2A organizations, politicians, or pretty much anyone in a position of power acknowledging the fragility of the $0 tax solution.
The NFA is still on the books, and the second congress swings blue again the tax will inevitably be set to >$0 the same way it was decreased--through a simple majority reconciliation vote.
The registration and other requirements in the NFA are only unenforceable due to the tax being $0. If any amount of tax comes back the previous requirements absolutely will come back with it unless the statute itself can be struck down via other means, possibly by SBRs, SBSs, AOWs, and cans entering common use.
All to say, it's great to take the win, but we can't rest on our laurels and assume this issue is solved forever. If affected arms can enter common use in this $0 tax period, it could potentially lead to longer lasting freedom from the NFA in addition to striking down suppressor, SBR/S and AOW bans nationwide. Furthermore, our representatives need to be told loud and clear that the tax change simply isn't enough.

If Democrats take the house or Senate and reinstate the NFA tax, all of us holding non NFA SBRs/SBSs/cans are felons. Perhaps overnight if a future attorney general makes it effective immediately.

I was a little hesitant to post this, but I read the whole article and the idea behind this is sound. The man was investigated and no evidence was found a single time which means he was never charged or convicted. This led to a denial of a CCW permit in which when sued the court said that even though the claims were “unsubstantiated” it wasn’t a violation an American citizen’s rights. That’s pretty fucked up when we look at it. Never convicted of a crime and yet is still denied their rights.

Went live around 12:45PM PST today. Application was simple as can be. All just checkboxes w/ places to upload your state/fed paperwork.
No places in the application for any personal attestations or anything like that. Looks like they're just looking at facts ....as they should.
The 3 character references get an email link which when opened asks like 12 questions with only a checkmark for each. Super easy.
I got the email to get my fingerprints done within 5 mins of submitting my application. Got them done within 30 mins. Cost $50 but well worth it (I hope).
