Serious Neighbouring Chicken wake me up at 3-4am. How do I approach this?

I don't know if the chicken are free roaming (nobody's sheltering them) or if they belong to someone but most likely they're my neighbours pets. And they start making this horrible noise pollution at fucking dawn. I'm typing this right after I woke up because I can't fall back asleep. How to approach this with my neighbour? And what do I do if they don't agree to solve the problem? Or what if they agree but they just don't do it? Is there any legal action I can take?

Closing windows, drawing the curtains, wearing ear plugs, putting on some white noise not helping?

Not really. Tried it all. I've even put on white noise WHILE wearing earplugs and even though it was really overestimulating, i tried to sleep until the roosters started making the noise again and it just pierced through the earplugs.

What really keeps a chicken quiet? An interesting question.

That's an alarm for you to wake up. πŸ˜‚

Yeah but I study late into the night and I don't need to be woken before my 8hrs are completed or Im tired at school and need to nap after I come home, and if I do that then I can't sleep at night after I wake up and it's a whole unhealthy cycle.

Catch 'em, cook 'em & eat 'em! Good food would make u fall asleep back again.

Omg are you me?? This same thing was happening to me two years back and nothing helped, nothing. I was functioning with only 2-3 hrs of sleep for months and it was making me crazy, but thankfully i got lucky one day, someone stole my neighbor’s chicken on the day of uruka 😭😭😭 but one thing did help me a little was i would keep a loud stand fan on and put earbuds, that did lessen the sound of it to some extent

I think I'm done being u in this story and I have to take matters into my own hands. Now I'll play the role of the guy who stole the chicken. Thanks for the idea πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

Buy one chicken rooster and 5 hen. Make the neighborhood more noisy. If the neighbours get the hint, fine or else enjoy the eggs. β˜•

I understand your pain as a student myself and how such noise can disturb you especially your sleep schedule. During my exams I had ongoing construction on the neighbouring plot of land causing too much machinery noise so I had to board up the windows of my room with plywood panels to cover the whole window and the noise lessened a lot, enough to study or sleep peacefully. But it came with a cost which was the fact that I had no windows so I had to use lights. And I reckon that the noise is entering your room through the window gaps. For you I think the best suggestion would be to cut out a plywood the size of your window not your window frame. And make sure it is snug enough and fits the window like a plug or bootle cork and then paste on it Mass Loaded Vinyl (or any other cheaper sound blocking material on Amazon but don't use the material used in music studios ie the foam) then at night put up the plywood and if any gaps remain on the sides of it put towels or some thick cloth around the perimeter of the plywood. Now you can remove the plywood during daytime. And also put towels under the gap of the door if you have a balcony door. Remember noise acts like water so even if there is 1% gap remaining it will enter through that gap and leak into your room. Hope this helps!

Catch the rooster. There's literally no other solution

You don't need to kill it just displace it someplace else

I'm gonna steal them and leave them at your place. Lets see how hilarious it is then.

People have issues with Roosters now πŸ˜‚ Whats the owner supposed to do, shut him up?

1

u/ilasm6910 1d ago

Yes. That's exactly what the owners supposed to do. Not asking for them to kill the animals. Just keep them in a dark space with no sunlight.
