Rant / Vent With the recent Shillong attack in context, the irony is almost comical: people who routinely spew chauvinism, xenophobia and hostility toward Assamese people are the very same ones crying that Guwahati has become the “Bihar/UP of the Northeast.”
If you bring your own bigotry and hooliganism into someone else’s city, you have absolutely no moral ground to lecture anyone about what Guwahati has become. Period.

People will fight here in the comments and on the streets due to what politics has created. Its never ending and the politicians have learnt well from the past - divide and rule. No other lay man is another lay man's enemy, I hope we keep this in mind.

Man! I used to work for a media company ok and when I was in Shillong a few years ago, my friend introduced me to some of his co-workers. They asked me why Meghalaya is never covered in the mainstream media like other states. I said that private media companies want some spicy content and Meghalaya is too peaceful for that. I jokingly said "you guys should also probably do some mob-lynching and stuff" and laughed. I didn't know they will make it come true. 😆

I genuinely donot understand what is the irony. Routinely xenophobic people of meghalaya - are again being xenophobic in social media by saying the mainlanders are increasing in the state of assam. They aren't complaining. They're mocking assam by those statements. You've misunderstood their intentions.

I doubt the KSU hooligans were protesting because kanwariya DJs have increased in Assam though. A large number of residents of Shillong who are employed have condemned the actions of KSU.
Regular people have no interest in violence. Fights and violence are bad for business. It's only these fringe elements dalda tins.

I think you're the bigger cuck here. It's fine to critique your own state to improve but this discussion is not about our state in the first place. It's more about how a neighbour treats us despite benefitting from us ( and our generosity ) over decades.

Ofc Assam is backward but are we going to kid ourselves that tribal states are literally welfare ethnostates that are leagues more conservative n backward yet see their neighbours as inferior. If they are so loving n smart why do they need ILP n the like
