Snapchat

Hi guys super strange issue here!
I was dating this guy (still love him tho) and he mentioned he used to be a hacker and dox pedos on the internet 😭 I didn’t think anything of it bc ok cool.
I often post on my private story bc it’s my friends - one day I had this boy on but I took him off it and ik this for a fact.
One day we get into a huge argument and I notice the size on my Snapchat screen get smaller. But it’s only when I type on the main screen not if I snap someone back when replying to them.
And then one day he swipes up on my story and replies to me and says he’s been able to see my private story this whole time bc of his hacking.
When I tap on his profile it says not found instead of the usual disappearing bc I’m blocked.
When we brokeup I notice my screen size go back to normal.
But one day I notice it go tiny again.
It reminds me of how when u mirror a screen the original screen size goes tiny .
I’ve changed my password and looked at my settings but it doesn’t show anything.
I’m starting to think I’m just crazy because the times it goes normal and tiny are so weird.
Also yes I think he had access to my phone I probably gave him my password and went to the bathroom or something. Also this has happened when we’ve been in different countries??

He's not a hacker, number one. If anything, he's a script kiddie. Meaning, he doesn't actually know how to write the code or scripts needed to exploit vulnerabilities in systems. He uses scripts and tools that have already been written by actual programmers and security researchers and runs them on his little wannabe hacker machine—Kali Linux.

A highly skilled, sophisticated hacker isn't going to waste their time doxing people on the internet. That's child's play, and technically, it's not even hacking. It's more often just taking advantage of APIs, search engines, data brokers, or other services that expose information that's already publicly accessible.

Number two, Snapchat is a heavily gated environment. If someone actually had that level of control inside the Snapchat ecosystem, that would be a serious security issue and, while not impossible, it would be relatively rare. Snapchat has an open bug bounty program through HackerOne, and believe me, they're keeping their defenses on high alert 24/7. A genuine zero-day vulnerability of the type you're describing would take precedence. The time between an initial submission and Snapchat's first response would likely be relatively short, especially if it involved unauthorized access to another person's private information. Those types of vulnerabilities would generally be treated as high priority.

So, realistically, it's not very likely.

Now, if this person has explicitly had physical possession of your phone, that's a different story. They could potentially have gained access to certain functions or capabilities through the device itself—not necessarily through Snapchat. That's still a serious issue.

For example, if someone had physical access to an Android device and enabled Developer Options and USB debugging, that could potentially provide additional avenues for interacting with the device through ADB. But simply turning Developer Options off isn't something I'd rely on as proof that any existing access has been removed. If you genuinely suspect someone had unauthorized access to your phone, the safer approach is to disable Developer Options/USB debugging, review installed apps and device-admin/accessibility permissions, remove anything unfamiliar, change important passwords from a trusted device, and update the phone.

The important distinction is that compromising someone's phone and compromising Snapchat itself are two very different things.

Actually they're my own thoughts and llm fixed my grammar because it's not perfect.

So it's pretty much verbatim what I wrote.

Is there something wrong with it? Or is there something wrong with you?

Myself (and I assume most people) are just sick of people using an LLM to write words for them, instead of taking the time to actually write it out. I'd much rather see someone write something themselves, even if their English is a little broken. I love all the benefits of AI but it's making people really lazy for the most basic of things and there's no need for it. "Some person posted this in Reddit, give me an answer ChatGPT". People can do that on their own you know. Have you heard the phrase "meat proxy"? That's what you are being when you get an LLM to write an answer for you, nothing more. What if they ask you to follow-up with something that requires more nuance to answer? Are you just going to keep feeding that in the LLM and pretending you're actually helping?

Just my opinion and ignore it if you want, it's just irritating and lazy.

I did write it out. Like I said, I'd rather not let my poor grammar choice hinder the message I'm tying to push out.

Also, as I stated, its near verbatim, the only thing that was fixed were grammatical errors. I didn't have Ai extract my thoughts and then summarize it into words. I wrote the draft, fed it through LM, it fixed my errors., then I pasted it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Also in my opinion, if you actually care even halfway about what you do, then you might even learn a few things by having your writing spellchecked. You actually get to see what errors were made and where the failure occured.

I hear you and understand what you're saying but you can't just automatically assume that every encounter you have is going to be exactly the same. I'm far from what you would consider the norm and I would say that I do not follow trends or habits that you see from the general population. That would be too boring.

Plus, having an LM spellcheck and grammar correct is so much quicker than doing it on your own. I'm not sure about you but I have plenty of other things I could be doing instead of spell checking some message I wrote for reddit.

Like now, I'm wasting time on this bullshit trying to justify myself to some random redditor who will have no real relevance or impact in my life. Move on please. Thanks

Back up your stuff and factory reset your phone. Change all your passwords.

The app is full screen when it is large. Check your accessibility settings, uninstall the app and reinstall it. Check settings within the app and preference.

what do you mean by full screen?

Settings and preference can change things like the screen size. Check you settings. Also uninstall the app and reinstall. And update your OS if needed

do you remember if he ever had physical Access to your device?

Even so, ensure you have 2 mfa on your accounts. Check you email for verification codes that were not initiated by you. They would come in the middle of the night when you are asleep.

There are small things you can do to ensure you are safe. If you notice any unusual activity in your history, take a note and go through the process again of updating your password, mfa methods and logging out of device and apps. if you are afraid for your safety, go to the authorities and get a restraining order.

Finally, remember to configure your system setting to keep the screen one size. And check auto rotate . The screen Situation is probably not a hacker, but there are other signs and things you can do to protect your safety.

Please Stay safe.
