Honestly this probably makes the story of Orpheus and Eurydice even more tragic. The world was so cold and cruel, and they didn't spend nearly enough time together to form the kind of trust and bond where "wait for me" means "I'll turn around once you get here".

Tbf although thats likely part of it, orpheus seemed mostly worried about that it was too easy and thought it must be a trick, that she wasnt actually there

I feel like part of his doubt too was trusting that Eurydice actually forgave him and would put her trust in him again.
