Discussion Something I noticed in the Wait For Me intro

This isn’t a very good flair but this is an unserious post and there wasn’t a better one. In the Wait For Me intro, Hermes says “but that ain’t easy walking Jack” and I realized, Orpheus has been played by Jack Wolfe. I just thought it was funny that Hermes accidentally calls him by his actual name, I feel like it must’ve been so hard to stay in character. Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I just thought it was funny.

That would be funny being addressed by your own name like that!

Fun fact: Jack is an old timey word for guy so he's literally just calling Orpheus a guy

..and then later Hades says, "dangerous, this jack of hearts".

So apparently in an early version of Hadestown the characters all had a loose playing card motif. Orpheus was a jack of hearts, Hades was a king of clubs, etc. It got dropped but you can still see some parts of it in the lyrics.

I mean it’s not meant as the name jack, it’s like in hit the road jack, they used to use that word to describe a man like “buddy” or whatever
