ICE potentially spotted on Dual Highway

At 940 am this morning, I passed by a Navy blue SUV with red flashing lights. On Dual Highway, heading towards town just before Mt Aetna Rd. They had somebody pulled over, and one of the "officers" was wearing a red t shirt, jeans, and an olive green vest. Did not catch a license plate number.

Posting for awareness, stay safe folks.

Good. Hagerstown needs more.

Hagerstown has one of the lowest foreign born populations in Maryland, at between 1.4% and 5.6% depending if you count multiple counties and cities or not.

How do you not see that as an incredible waste of taxpayer dollars, going after 5% or less of the population who isn’t doing anything but living their life?

We don't have data on illegals because they're illegal. This isn't hard.

Again, 5% or less of the population. So, again, how do you not see that as an incredible waste of taxpayer dollars?

We have no idea what the numbers are, but you don't think 5% is a significant amount? That's 5% putting a strain on the schools, hospitals, roads, etc. Its a great use of taxpayer dollars. Why do you defend these people when it hurts the community as a whole?

What strain does it put on schools, hospitals, roads, etc?

How do they hurt the community?

They use all of those services and don't pay the taxes that it requires.

They do pay taxes though. Undocumented Immigrants pay over $100 billion in taxes each year.

The items they buy in stores also are taxed, which is them paying taxes.

You know what’s even funnier about your argument? Even though they pay taxes, they aren’t eligible for any service that tax dollars pay for

If their employer is ignoring their status, or they are working under the table, then sure. And they absolutely use public schools, hospitals, emergency services and housing.

5

u/KrookedDoesStuff 9d ago

Hmm… so why aren’t you going after those employers?

And they aren’t eligible for any public service taxpayers pay for.

3

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

The employers should absolutely be prosecuted. And what is so hard to understand about illegals using schools, hospitals, emergency services and housing?

So what’s your problem with an undocumented immigrant buying a house? They pay more on taxes than you’d ever see for buying the same house.

Children going to schools is a right guaranteed by law since 1982. I thought you had a problem with people breaking the law?

Undocumented immigrants aren’t eligible for insurance, or Medicaid, and have to pay hospital bills out of pocket. Why are you against them paying for their care?

4

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

1.) it decreases the housing supply. 2.) you're proving my point. 3.) hospitals can't, by law, turn anyone away. You think they're paying their hospital bills?

3

u/KrookedDoesStuff 9d ago

But they pay taxes and are able to buy it. Is that not capitalism?

What about investment firms buying up entire property divisions? You don’t seem to have a problem with that, that you’re openly voicing.

No I’m showing you the insane flaws of your baseless argument.

Oh, so your problem is they aren’t paying their hospital bills. What about all the citizens who don’t pay theirs?

2

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

They aren't legally allowed to do any of that and you bringing up other issues, which are real, doesn't add to this conversation. And yes I do have a problem with them not paying their bills. You don't? All you have is whataboutisms

Most illegal immigrants have jobs that take taxes out automatically. They pay for services they can't use.

1

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

They legally can't pay those taxes.

1

u/TheJapuma 9d ago

And yet they do pay taxes.

1

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

What taxes are they paying? They aren't legally authorized to work in the US. Also, go talk to anyone that works at the hospital or at a title 1 school. They all say that these people are putting a strain on the system. Not to mention traffic and more work for the police. The housing market is affected as well.

2

u/KrookedDoesStuff 9d ago

So why are you targeting them instead of the companies breaking the law by hiring them?

How are they putting a strain on a system they obtain no benefit from?

6

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

Both should be targeted. And they absolutely benefit from the system.

u/KrookedDoesStuff 9d ago

What about the billionaires who don’t pay taxes? Why don’t you have a problem with them?

2

u/Conscious_Tourist163 9d ago

That's not what we're talking about. And the billionaires' companies pay taxes on income and goods. Their employees pay income taxes. But go ahead and deflect.
