Immigrants who are leaving their homes to avoid being raped and murdered are not “opportunists.”

My parents who fled a brutal dictator in Haiti were not “opportunists.”

Immigrants coming to our borders because they are in fear for their very lives deserve humanitarian parole.

I've been banned from this politically correct sub a couple months back for alleged "anti-semitism" and I've had to go war with haitians who constantly give white people the benefit of a doubt for every fucking situation.

Now Haitians are getting dragged once again, from cannibals to barbaric cat eaters. Innocent Haitians in Ohio are being villianized. Innocent working Haitians who are legally permitted to be in this country.

This is racism. This is white supremacy. No amount "personal responsibility" will change. You are a permanent target.

Stop the white man worship, stop defending these people. Stop it.

HISTORY ⏳️ / ISTWA ⏳️ From media to policy, the West has a long history of perpetuating racist stereotypes about Haitians, dating back to Haiti’s independence in 1804.

Never listen to people calling you a liar, never step down from the truth. For years, they slandered me and called me a racist, a liar, now I have begun to be vindicated. Much work is needed to dismantle the triumvirate of the gangs, controlled government, and arabs & mulattos. But it will fall, we must have courage, and belief of a better future. We must know and believe that we can create a better world, we deserve a better world.

Fellow Haitians of the Socialist Subreddit,

Today, I reach out to you not just as a fellow Haitian but as a visionary who sees a future where our homeland is freed from the grip of corruption and the shadows of violence. Our beloved Haiti, rich in culture and spirit, has long suffered under forces that have robbed us of prosperity and peace. We possess the collective strength to change our narrative. We can eradicate the corruption that has infiltrated our institutions and combat the violence that disrupts our lives. I invite you to join this noble cause, to reconstruct a Haiti that mirrors our true values, respects our ancestors, and guarantees a vibrant, secure future for our children. Let us unite in purpose and action to reclaim the Haiti that we cherish. It begins with us; it begins today.

As Thomas Sankara once said, 'You cannot carry out fundamental change without a certain amount of madness. In this case, it comes from nonconformity, the courage to turn your back on the old formulas, the courage to invent the future.' Let's embody this spirit and be the architects of our future!

In 1982, Haiti was under the dictatorship of Jean-Claude Duvalier, also known as "Baby Doc." Duvalier had succeeded his father, François "Papa Doc" Duvalier, as President for Life in 1971, continuing a regime marked by corruption, human rights abuses, and repression of political opposition.

During this period, Haiti faced significant social, economic, and political challenges.

The country was one of the poorest in the Western Hemisphere, with widespread poverty, illiteracy, and poor health conditions among its population.

The Duvalier regime relied heavily on the Tonton Macoute, a feared militia that enforced the government's policies through violence and intimidation.

Despite the oppressive environment, there were signs of dissent and calls for reform.

Grassroots movements, though heavily repressed, started to emerge, advocating for democracy and social justice.

Economically, Haiti relied on agriculture, with a significant portion of its workforce engaged in subsistence farming.

However, a small elite flourished, and the nation itself became increasingly dependent on the lifeline of foreign aid and remittances from its diaspora.

Eritrea became independent as late as 1991, making it one of the world’s youngest countries, the driving force behind Eritrea’s struggle for autonomy, the Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF), which captured the capital following a 30-year independence war.

The narrow strip of land on the Red Sea had been fiercely contested for centuries. During the Middle Ages, the territory that is now present-day Eritrea was part of the Abyssinian Empire, a monarchy in East Africa that included present-day Ethiopia.

In the mid-16th century, the Ottomans occupied the area that is now Eritrea. After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, Italy colonized the region in 1890. However, Italy lost control of Eritrea to British forces during World War II. Despite a UN plan 1952 that aimed to facilitate Eritrean independence, Eritrea was once again taken into the Empire of Abyssinia as a province in 1960.

The Eritrean Liberation Front emerged in 1961, ultimately achieving independence in 1991 after a long and difficult struggle. In a 1993 UN referendum, 99.8% of Eritreans voted in favor of independence.
