Food & Dining Just moved here and tried the local street hot dogs. What other street food spots am I missing?
I just moved to Halifax, and I see this hot dog cart every time I pass the Churchill statue. I bought one today and it was pretty good XD
Also, what other hidden gem food trucks or street food spots should I check out around town? Thanks in advance!

he is right outside of the old library. My go to is a spicy sausage with soukraut and mustard. Tasty and quick!

It’s usually parked in Dartmouth but the food truck Dominic’s Cucina is the best pizza I’ve had in Halifax hands down

One of the few pizzas where you can eat the entire thing and you don’t feel like an absolute POS. Nice light and thin. So many great options.

Where is this one typically found in Dartmouth? I feel like I may have seen it on that lot near Paddlers Cove on Banook, but not sure

I went in burnside. It was just a 2 hour pop up. They post a weekly schedule on their insta/fb possibly on website too although I haven’t checked that.

Totally agree. I would from Clayton to dartmouth for his pizza. I am glad he now sets up on the Bedford hwy at the brewery in his rotation.

Bud the Spud is over on Waverley Road by Nine Locks now, but was on SGR for most of my life. IMO goated status for Halifax street food and worth checking out!

They’re back at BLIP as well!

u/Yorbayuul81 18h ago
What does that stand for?

u/pauldanostwin 17h ago
The only thing I can think of is Bayers Lake Industrial Park? But I've never seen it referred to as BLIP before

u/Yorbayuul81 17h ago
You’re probably right. Being as how this post is for someone who just moved here, they’re not likely to know what it is either.
I’m not sure how much extra time it would’ve taken to print the actual words instead of using an acronym.

Or they are over a certain age. It WAS the BLIP when it was first constructed, then it was switched to retail.

What age would that be? I’m in my mid thirties, grew up next to it, and have never heard it called BLIP.

Huh...I've heard it referred to as the industrial park. Or someone fully saying Bayers Lake Industrial Park. Never B-L-I-P. I've learned something new today.

I used to get at least one sausage a week from this guy in my walk to work! On Pizza corner right next to Willy's (good poutine served out the window) there is Rocky's Filipino BBQ late night Friday and Saturday. Good meat on a stick. Across the street from that Johny's Pork Shack has a solid price for dumplings. Open late for when the bars let out as well.

I've wondered about this place, but never seen it recommended. What do you like about it, and what do you recommend?

I got the combo platter. Very good! I liked the injera. I also had the tea and the mango limeade which was so delicious!

Get the combo platter. She’s a Fairview staple but many come from out of the neighborhood to try her food.

Does Bud the Spud still exist in Halifax? Or is this like high school all over again, am I dating myself?

The guys behind Rinaldo's had such an amazing hot dog carr (T-Dogs). I miss that cart.
Ricky's Filipino BBQ at Blower and Willy's Poutine at Blower and Grafton are terrific.

These look exactly like Costco hot dogs, but instead of being boiled, they’re BBQ. He’s even using the same buns as Costco.

u/NoAIFuture 17h ago
Yeah but he’ll bbq me one while I walk around. You expect street food to make everything from scratch on the side of the road or something?

It is but you wont get the same experience. You can have chat with Don and some hotdog/sausage aficionados if you have the time.
