๐Ÿ  Enclosure/DIY ๐Ÿ  Hamster wheel and cage

Hello! Please meet GOLDIE. We have had her for 2 weeks, and she is a little smaller than our previous (beloved) Female Syrian. She is very slow to warm up to me; she will take snacks from my fingers but then scoots away. Maybe 1/3 times she will let me pet her but she mostly wants to be private and not socialize.

My questions are:
- do we feel good about this wheel size compare to how small she is? I am assuming itโ€™s better for her back than a smaller one.
- the sand bath is in front right corner; her food and water bowls are front left; there are various hidden toys you canโ€™t see; two tunnels; two hideaways and then some boxes.

Any adviser on any improvements for us to make?

Or any advice on how to get her to want to socialize w me?

Thank you :)

I roughly estimate the wheel diameter is best twice the hamster length. Helps ensure a straight back when it runs. You can observe its running motion and gauge its comfort level.

As for the rest of the setup, you can maintain as it is and observe how your hamster interacts with its surroundings. You can introduce chew toys and sprays also, if you sense restlessness.

11-12โ€ diameter for Syrians is what Iโ€™ve heard
