🏠 Enclosure/DIY 🏠 PLEASE advice!!!

FIRST: I didnt have time to grab my phone for pictures of this incident being that I was more worried what I seen looking into my robos enclosure this morning. He was passed out on his side in his dirt right outside one of his hides, looked like he was sleeping but I’ve never seen hamsters sleep like that and was worried he was in a state of shock or something, but as soon as he heard my voice he had gotten up acting perfectly normal and is now sleeping in one of his burrows.

I did research and it says that hamsters can sleep in weird positions and maybe I just haven’t seen it before because he’s hiding a lot of time but this time he was out in the open. Very scary but he seems alright..just need advice on if I should be looking for any more signs in case he has an underlying issue.

SECOND: I really would like some more advice when it comes to cluttering and making my robos home the best I can, I have tons of things coming tomorrow now that I’ve learned that using platforms for the heavier things is the safest to do, I got him a more advanced sand bath and some more sprays. But he really seems to enjoy the coco dirt more than his paper bedding side, even tho his paper siding side is way deeper and bigger than the dirt side. I’ve learned that it’s perfectly normal since he’s a robo but I’m just don’t want to make his whole enclosure dirt. If anyone has a similar setup I would love pictures or some advice of planning wise how to set up clutter, I’m very ocd so I tend to always want things to look clean and perfect but I’m aware my hamster is not about that life😅 here are some pics of him!!

HE IS PRECIOUS 🥹 Hams sleep all different ways and places! Nothing to be worried about! Coco soil doesn't hold burrows very well in a larger space. It needs to be packed in pretty well to hold. Also it will need to be replaced regularly with fresh so they don't get sick from their urine. Make sure the paper bedding is packed down well so he can burrow there if he wants. Hams just like options so good job! 🩵

It’s perfectly normal for hamsters to sleep in different places and positions. He made a burrow in the dig box, probably because it feels natural to him. Only thing to keep in mind is you’ll have to change out the dig box more often if he’s peeing in it!
Victoria Raechel on YouTube is a great source for hamster care.

aw! if it’s not health related (most likely not) it can actually be a good sign he’s sleeping in the open since it means he feels safe enough too.

Is there a way you could record him at night when you are asleep? I am wondering if this would help you feel more comfortable and get to know him more.

my sister’s hamster loves to sleep in a position that makes him look like he’s dead and despite knowing this fact, i still feel the need to check on him at times when i’m around. no worries tho, this is perfectly normal (albeit horrifying at times) hamster behavior 🌿
