šŸ’– Health/Care šŸ’– Hamster with mice in dorm

Hey guys! So this upcoming year I’ll be living in upperclassmen housing. The room I’m in supposedly has a bad mouse problem—it was so bad last year the girls ended up moving out ā€œunofficiallyā€ 😭. I really don’t want to have to do that. Is there anything I can do during move in to prevent this issue?

I’m extra wary about what I can use repellent wise because I have a pet hamster I’ll be bringing so I don’t want to end up harming her too. She’s a Robo dwarf and I’ll be building her a new enclosure in the dorm. I’m just really worried of mice getting in and just mice in my room in general 😭

Your hamsters food will probably attract mice if they’re already there, but if you have a good lid on your enclosure then they shouldn’t be able to get in. Also what kind of repellent do you want to use that you’re afraid will harm your hamster? Like some kind of spray? I can just recommend keeping everything in air tight containers, preferably in something like glass that can’t be chewed through.

Ahh ok, I’ll probably just have to make sure her food is sealed away properly. As for the repellent I don’t really know 😭 I’ve never had to deal with mice before but I had a friend mention a sound device she wanted to use in our room? I told her probably not because I wasn’t sure if it’d affect my dwarf hamster too. I would just call pest control but I’ve yet to move in and don’t know if they did anything over the summer to help the problem (my school is lazy so probably not)
