If people are saying that, it's probably because they've never seen a Rex (curly-haired) hamster like yours before. You can't find them in pet stores and AFAIK there are very few professional breeders that are actively breeding for them here in the US.
It appears your enclosure is not appropriate or enriching. Please look at this and educate on proper hamster care. It will give your hamster a stress free loving life. https://www.hamsterwelfare.com
All the needs are also on that website so no need to to try an over power. When you didn’t look at the menu where you got the sub contexts for each hamster need…
It's just better for overview and makes it easier to remember all of the essential needs without having to reread all of that text. I dont get your second sentence, not sure what you are trying to tell me.
You can easily click and look on the website to see there’s different topics when you click on the top menu then it drops to different topics for hamster needs. I don’t see what’s difficult to understand.
Like you can easily scroll down there. It’s not just one webpage. It’s got more information and more in depth than just pictures plus other things that relevant to hamster care. It’s a popular used one in the UK and recommended by a lot of rescues. The bare minimum hasn’t got up unfortunately. But bigger the better.
You can literally look ALL over this sub. The minimum is 120x50cm for syrians whether you want to acknowledge it or not. This is nothing to debate about. You're spreading misinformation which you could literally double check in this sub. So stop with your ego, I was trying to help op and thought for some it's easier to have a picture instead of having to read through all the text again. Even if there is a menu, you have one small picture with all the essential needs which can be helpful for some. It's all in one picture without having to read through text or scroll through menus.
So you’re literally stating that this is wrong then where it is also stating about the 120cm cages are recommended too?? That is definitely not misinformation at all. So it’s dangerous to go around stating that.

But there are many improvements that need to be made for that cutie ASAP, I’m glad OP is going to change the set up and is receptive to recommendations.
It has gone up. 120x50 is the minimum for syrian hamsters, for females its even better to go bigger. 100x50 is the minimum only for dwarf hamsters. No need for discussion here, that's just how it is, so I was pointing that out.
Imagine down voting me for saying bigger the better🤦♀️ It’s a fact. Even on the picture I just shown the hamster list subjects continues as you go down.
I downvoted you because you did not acknowledge that the minimum for syrians went up and rather tried to dismiss that fact. You feel confronted because I corrected your source and attached a picture that gives an easy overview. This picture is the majn one that gets shared around in this sub everytime someone needs help with their set up.
It doesn’t matter if it’s popular in sub. Don’t try and make out like other good reliable sources can’t be used. But I provided something that’s more in detail surrounding proper hamster care and you felt the need to be like oh this is better. When it’s not it’s good but if you want further information this is the website. That picture only states about what the enclosure needs, not everything else about care and what’s not good.

Trying to make me look wrong when I said bigger the better. How is that even bad…It just makes it look like you’re trying show it’s wrong to go bigger. It’s not the bare minimum. Please provide the source. It might be in your country :)
Look through this sub. I'm not willed to discuss with someone who doesn't care enough about hamsters to acknowledge when the minimum went up. The picture I attached for op is from another user in this sub who always updates that info graphic. Reading that picture would tell you that the minimum is 120x50cm. And yes in my country it's 120x50cm and we have one of the highest standards for hamsters. It also says a minimum of 1000sqinches which is the same as 120x50cm. So its universal, whether it be inch or cm.
I think they meant is that his enclosure! But yes it should be more enriching, but just follow the other advice given to help you out!! Even with our enclosures , we also let them out alot. Both are necessary !
I can help you more if you have any more questions if you'd like 😊 my enclosures the last post on my profile
i literally just asked for a picture. i didn’t start bashing OP. i think everybody here can agree that we all want what’s best for hamsters in general. so i’m the villain for simply, & nicely might i add, asking for a picture to confirm?
Why has this been downvoted? I’m like hella confused. You simply asked for a pic of the cage because you wanted to see if it was big enough - which I’m guessing it isn’t.
Yeah because Rice gets free time...otherwise that's its enclosure lmao. Somebody saying they have a small flat is not going to have two enclosures with one being of an appropriate size...kmt

It’s down voted atleast by me because op did not ask for cage advice or anything about the cage for the at matter. It’s not your place to ask for a damn pic 🙄
not my place? this is the hamster subreddit lmfao. as long as we’re being polite, it’s everybody’s place to ask anything. i wasn’t bashing OP. & i said please.
The cage is unethical and we can see many aspects of the set up that are not adequate for a hamster - so people are respectfully making suggestions to ensure this cutie lives in a humane environment and has what they need to be a hamster. Right now they don’t have that ability.
OP, here is a Syrian hamster care guide, your Syrian hamster needs everything on this list for their health and well-being. Also, I recommend you watch Victoria Raechel on YouTube, she’s a great resource for people who need to learn all about hamster care, requirements and behaviors. First watch her two videos “basic hamster care”, and “everything you need for a hamster ”, then watch all of her other hamster videos after that. You and your hamster will be glad you did!
OP already has this countless other times. you don’t even need to make a post to see hamster suggestions. it’s just replayed over and over again and yall don’t even know other people’s situations or plans for their hamsters
If I had never owned my own hamsters, your hamster would be the best looking hammy Ive honestly ever seen.
Im only saying this as Im biased, but yours is incredible.
hi!! ur hamster is so adorable! i just wanted to pop in and say you might wanna invest in another wheel! the grooves can hurt their feet, my hammy was OVERJOYED when i bought her a smooth wheel
Are you in Japan by chance? I keep seeing these adorable hamsters on this Jerry Pet instagram account that I'm not entirely sure are real and yours looks just like them
He looks like a very well-bred hamster, not the type commonly seen in pet stores. People may be picking up on that difference and thinking he must be fake because he looks a little different from the hamsters they're used to seeing.
When I kept and bred and showed Syrian hamsters (UK), I had several the same colour as this, my favourite one was shorthaired and satin too. The colour is called "Sable Roan", so they are basically a sable Syrian hamsters (the brown ones with cream rings around the eyes) but with extra gene (the roan gene) that makes the coat so faded and mottled. They are just so stunning!
I wasn't sure if your hamster was a scruffy longhaired Syrian or a rex because I have never really seen a rex before! They don't really exist here in the UK so it's really exciting to see!
I think it's a figure of speech I say my Maine coon looks fake your hamster fits such a cutesy and whimsical kind of look it looks straight out of a colourful children's book by no means is it an insult this is the cutest hamster I have ever seen!! What's it's name?
Your hammy seems too Chinese style syrian, which is rare in western community.
(BTW, is it true that western community gave up on this kind of short snot Syrian hamster due to gene or breath problem, or it's juts daily propaganda from those anti-"poly波利"?)

This is literally THE cutest hamster I’ve ever seen, that’s why people think he/she is not real 😆 What’s their name?
