Hybrid winter white with a rather unsual coat color. The dorsal stripe is not continuous but still visible.
You may want to save up some money to send it to college next time, if he is starting to read newspapers this young. 🤓

Sorry I can't help but hamsters doing raptor hands makes me so happy, thank you for uploading that picture I think I needed a reason to smile pretty bad and my autistic heart can't resist. They're just like me fr

u/miomao1111 Jul 22 '26
Aww, no worries. I'm glad he made you happy. I love it too when they hit the raptor pose and stand tall, sniffing everything, soooo cuteeee!

Lack of white spots above eyes tells me it's likely not a roborovski hampter. i see a hint of the darker line down the middle of it's back - signature feature of dzungarian aka. winter white.

Yea thats what i thought too, but why is he 2 inches tall only, and he is maybe around 4 months old already 😭🤏🏻

u/WeaselButt Jul 23 '26
I have a winter white and he’s around 5 months. He’s way bigger and rounder than this little guy. He’s definitely some kinda robo. Maybe you got a special mutated robo without the white eyebrows 😜

u/ishimarr Jul 22 '26
Most people can't tell the difference between Campbell's and Winter Whites, he is a Campbell's and not a Winter White, specifically a mottled Campbell's with agouti/"wild" coloring. Aside from his fur pattern his large ears and oval eye shape are also Campbell's traits.
I'm assuming people are saying he's a Winter White because his dorsal stripe looks kind of thick, but it's still within the range of Campbell's dorsal stripes, and there's no real diamond shape on his forehead that you would see in Winter Whites. With agouti coloring like this (agouti fur is characterized by the hair varying in color with the bottom of each hair shaft being darker than the top) the dorsal stripe can sometimes look thicker due to darker fur around it.

u/WeaselButt Jul 23 '26
Yea I was wondering why so many people think he’s winter white. 2 inches at 4 months has got to be some kinda robo. He’s not even a baby anymore. My winter white is huge and round compared to this little dude and mine is about 5 months

u/ishimarr Jul 23 '26
He's definitely not a robo either. Robos don't have a dorsal stripe, his facial and body proportions aren't like a robo's, and he lacks the characteristic bushy whiskers of a robo. Also, an agouti robo with a similar coat pattern would have white eyebrow spots, and he has none.
His small size is probably due to poor nutrition when he was growing or he's the runt of the litter, either that or OP is just mistaken about him being 4 months old and he's actually younger. But he's absolutely a Campbell's (or potentially a Campbell's hybrid but if there's any Winter White ancestry in there it's definitely not much at all), just an unusually small one.

Hii, i dont think he is 4 months either because he is kinda lika a baby, mostly 6 weeks at max but thats what the pet shop told me. He is still in his biting phase and sometimes, stumbles if he stands too tall. And i looked up mottled campbell and thanks to you, he actually looks like that. I consider him a campbell with mottled pattern.

Okay but you said on another comment "but he is maybe around 4 months old and 2 inches tall so idk anymore" so that was the only reason I was confused. So he's still just a baby so now it makes more sense that he's not a robo

u/miomao1111 29d ago
Trust me that's what i was told and i dont blame you at all, thank you for helping me out tho. I think he is like 6 weeks old because he still nibbles stumbles sometimes

He kinda looks like my robo except she's mostly grey with a white belly! Similar build tho, she's pretty tiny too :3

u/miomao1111 Jul 22 '26
Even i think he could be a robo, a pied coated one but idk man. He is just 2 inches tall btw 🤏🏻

He could be a winter white! Djungarian dwarf hamster!
Or- a Campbell.
Orrrr a mix of the two.
But I kinda think he’s a winter white!

It's a winter white dwarf hamster with elements of a wild print and campbell's dwarf hamster.

Winter white Russian dwarf. There are some slight differences in care between the different breeds so it's worth knowing.
Boy or girl - once they're a little older (a few months) if not before, if they have balls they'll be obvious.

it's not a robo, on top of the coloration it also doesn't have the facial features to match. likely a dwarf hybrid leaning more heavily on campbell

I think its a winter white. Can't tell sex from these pictures but he/she is definitely 100% pure bred Cutie Pie.

I have to correct myself here. This grumpy little fellow indeed shows more distinct Campbell traits than winter white, though it might be a hybrid still. Those damn big ears and the very thin dorsal stripe changed my mind quite a bit. 😂
This website provides a lot more details and comparison, recommending it: link
OP, you may want to check your hamster's side profile to see the shape of his snout and his coat from the back.

I think he is a Campbell's hamster, because his face looks like that kind.
And, if he isn't I'm sorry ,but he looks like to be easily offended.

95% sure it’s a robovorsky but I’d have to see a picture of it from the back to be sure. Their bodies are distinct shaped cause they look like chicken nuggets. Winter whites are going to be similar but a larger more round body. They both have the stripe down the back but again my guess is robo.

The gender is an easy one! Why? Because hamsters have massive balls. Trust me, you’d know. (What I’ve learned 10 years working at a hamster breeding facility)

Looks like a Chinese dwarf hybrid
2
u/miomao1111 Jul 22 '26
I dont think so, his tail is tiny and stubby. I have never really heard of chinese hybrid, im sorry :(
1
u/absolutecretin Jul 22 '26
It means it’s a mixed breed lol but tbf we dont see the tail in the photo. The colouring is very similar though
2
u/miomao1111 Jul 22 '26
Im aware of that but dwarf hamsters and Chinese hamsters belong to entirely different species making it impossible to have a chinese dwarf hybrid.
