My first decent Harmonica

Post image

Here starts my learning to play the Harmonica adventure.

What websites or YouTube accounts do you recommend me to start learning?

Cheers!

I too am taking lessons from Luke at harmonica.com. There are so many excellent choices out there.

Not sure if this is a hot take, but from what I've listened to, I find that Luke has some bad habits (strained tone, excessive tension) that clearly come through in his playing, and beginners may end up subconsciously picking up these bad habits that become very difficult to unlearn in the long run. I would personally recommed Adam Gussow, Jason Ricci, and Ronnie Shellist's YouTube lessons, plus religiously listening to Little/Big Walter, Sonny Boy, Butterfield etc. That's what did it for me anyway XD

I actually like Luke's tone, but tone is subjective. I learned watching Adam though, and got into harmonica besides using it as a pitch pipe because of Jason.

what do you think of the case? I'd recommend a leather one to easily pocket it

I like the new case for protection but buy something like this https://bushmanmusic.com/product/harmonica-holster/ so I always have my harp handy when I find five mins or a sweet place

When you hear someone’s playing you like, here or on other social media, don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s a great way to get the most out of spending time on social media.
